Does anyone have any feedback on the Odyssey Global Preschool? I have taken at look at the school and the facilities were impressive and the centre director, Komala, was very nice. I am looking at enrolling my boy for N1 in 2013. The school seems to have a good mix of locals and foreigners, which an important factor in our eventual choice. I’ve taken a look at Eton House, liked it, but the fees come up to just about S$25,000 a year, including the registration…so it is a bit too expensive. I’d also appreciate any recommendations of a good pre-school in the Mountbatten, East Coast or Upper East Coast Area, with good, caring teachers, curriculum and a decent outdoor play area within the schoolgrounds.

Hi, I'm Lisa, a researcher from Maxy. We are currently conducting a survey for parents with children in the following schools from 28 Nov- 3 December 2017.

The purpose is to understand preschool facilities in Singapore and how they can be improved to serve you better.

I’ve never seen them watching any TV or anything of that sort. I’ve never seen teachers use a Hp too, they usually use a digital camera to take pics for the parents weekly updates.

She was literally bullied by her head teacher because we expressed our dissatisfaction with various things like their extreme exposure to youtube video, the inappropriate content shown to children, their lack of outdoor activities, teacher’s negativity. We brought these issues up on a Friday with the center director and our child was specifically identified, ostracized and bullied by the head teacher on the following Monday. Her head teacher even told her that she had to go to a new school. That made her felt rejected, sad and emotionally devastated as my child looked up to this teacher and felt that she had done something drastically wrong to deserve such treatment.


Curriculum wise, she learnt next to nothing in her 3 months there. She watched tons of video on Youtube and picked up random words of mandarin. Still road has a huge campus with ample outdoor space but it’s just a white elephant. Activities are confined to a tiny space in the front poach. In her 3 months there, she never had waterplay … although we were told to leave her swim costumes in school for such activities. Regardless of activities or curriculum, the worst experience was with the teachers. Besides being bullied and emotionally traumatized by the head teacher, the Chinese is constantly on her phone, messaging! 7 out of 10 times I see her, she’d be on the phone while watching over the kids.

We pulled her out of Odyssey the same day we learnt about the mistreatment and it’s been 1.5 months since my child enrolled in a new school. In her short 3 weeks at the new school, my child can recite some chinese poems though not perfect, did regular art works and enjoy playtime everyday. I’m glad we pulled our child out early and she’s in a much happier and educationally conducive environment now. Her new teachers really cared and ultimately, that’s what matters if your child spends more than half a day at the center. By the way, my child is in N2 this year.

I felt that the person showing me around (who was not the Principal) could not impress me with the school and the school sounded quite normal. I really like the outdoor space but wonder about the teachers and the curriculum. Are the teachers caring and is the curriculum fun and engaging for the kids?

Other than high school fees, everything in odyssey from teachers, classmates, environment, etc are excellent.


There is also a weekly update in a form of newsletter emailed to us . Newsletter will consist of photos n activities that our toddler had last week in school.

She is in K2 now. I was first attracted by the large outdoor field and then the sch refurbished to their current modern look. likewise the school fees. The teachers are great and the students are given opportunity to extend their learning beyond classrooms like music, cooking, painting, scrulture etc. Alot of parents involvement too. My girl enjoyed the exposure and I felt that she is more confident now and is able to mix well with both local and foreign students.

The children there are very fortunate to have great teachers, with 3 teachers in each classroom. The children there were not only \"work/study smart\" but were also people smart. When I entered the school, a few of the children came up to me and initiate conversation by saying \"Nice to meet you\" without any teachers' prompting. I like how the curriculum is comprehensive and definitely an exemplary school where their practice is based on children's development and theories. I saw that you emphasized the decent outdoor play area, and I must say I was impressed or even \"jealous\" when I saw Odyssey's playground - A huge soccer field, the huts, the playground facilities, etc. I also like how the teachers extend children's learning beyond the classroom, teaching in outdoor environment.


As for EtonHouse, I was privilege to meet up with the founder. The curriculum EtonHouse provides is more attractive to Singaporean parents because of their focus on bilingual curriculum. In terms of school fees, I think it is important to consider that although both have foreign children in their school, I reasoned that EtonHouse is more pricey partly because they are a certified IB (International Baccalaureate) school, whereas Odyssey is in the process of getting certified.
