I think they r trying to equip them with the thinking skills (base cost, pricing, profit & lost) at a young age. My son made some clay art to sell at open house in nov. Not a bad idea to instill some $ sense/ value of $ in them

I find them useless and not helpful. I decided to strike it out on my own earlier this year and it was when I learnt everything. I started with a pushcart business, but the investment is probably too much if your nephew is very young.

If your nephew is old enough, let him try with a blogshop or something and guide him along. Doing it is the best way to learn. You can bring him out to those business fairs too. Trade shows, franchise & licensing fairs. Observe how people negotiate and what kind of questions do businessman ask.
