I was in KS two years ago with my then 6-and-8 year old boys, and yeah it was fun! We went on the ATV ride through the jungle, and yes the tour took us for a dip at the waterfall too. Went canoeing at Ang Thong Marine Park, which the boys really enjoyed. Didn't know about the zipline adventure - would love to read about it if you do it with the kids! My kids love ziplines now!

Here's some reviews by a couple of families on this site: http://kidsonboard.net/blog/category/de ... /koh-samui.

Food wise... I have to agree there's better variety in Phuket. We were in KS over the weekend and on a Friday night, had dinner at the Bophut night market, which was nice. Fly to Kuala Lumpur, then to Koh Samui (choice of Malaysia Airlines and Bangkok Airways)

Alternatively, if your mantra is \"getting there is half the fun\" (or you have too much time to spend), you can consider flying to Phuket or Krabi (Tigerair), then a bus/car ride to Don Sak Jetty (3~4hrs) and catch a ferry to Koh Samui (2.5hrs)

Lastly, if you truly believe in Anthony Bourdain's \"the journey is part of the experience\" (or really have too much time on your hands), you can consider taking a bus to Don Sak Jetty via Surat Thani, Hatyai and Peninsula Malaysia.
