I called in on 16 of June 2015 to request for a tour in the school at no. 2 jalan merdu. As I just joined the company I couldn’t take leave to visit during weekdays, hence I requested to view on a Sat. The principal, Angie is kind enough to allow me to do so. She said she will call me back on which sat I could come over. I waited for a day or two. No calls from her. I called back and managed to schedule on 11 July 2015. I asked her why we have to wait so long, will there still be vacancy? She replied not to worry we still have available slot. She is busy and couldn’t make it on the rest of the sat. Ok… Fine… I will wait. 11 July came. I reached the school at around 9.50am. We were told to wait outside without further explanation. Saw some maintenance guys fixing the aircon. 10.00 my boy started to get very grouchy. 10.05 the principal Angie came to attend to me with another couple waiting inside the school. She just gave a short explanation on the curriculum and where the children will be. No interaction with my boy. I requested to visit upstairs and she asked another teacher who knows nothing about how the classes worked to attend to us. So I ended the tour and went back downstairs. The principal is attending to that couple we saw earlier. I told the principal I would like enroll my kid in the school and she said I’m sorry our class is full. The couple inside just decided to make deposit. So I was !!! I requested the tour so long ago and you have no time to attend to me and you told me not to worry there’s available slot. I tried to tell her on this point and she said I’m being unreasonable. No deposit no guarantee of place. She can’t promise on the slot on the phone. And she keep saying I’m being an unreasonable parent and there is no point of maintaining the relationship even if I put my son in the school. She even said that she came back today because of me. I was totally shocked and couldn’t believe what I have seen in the reviews here and the person I have met. I’m glad fate show me what is best for my kid. I found another school on the same day which is today. I’m more than happy to enroll him there with a better principal who take time, effort and with honesty to explain in details on the school to me. Even without appointment. My boy played with the principal for a long time and was so happy to be in the school.

I have placed my little girl at schoolhouse by the garden at 48. I visited no 48 and and no 2. 48 is more spacious and has better ventilation as compared to no 2 and its nearer to lrt. It is easier for my mum to pick her up if i am not able to pick my girl on time. There is also a safe spot for me to park my car.

I decided to put my child at Schoolhouse by the garden at 48, Jalan Merdu.
The teachers are friendly and is able to let me know my child progress in the centre. Children’s work are displayed in the centre to enable me to see my girl’s work.
I like to share my thoughts- my child has been there since begining of the year. My girl keeps crying every morning but with teachers patience, they are able to settle her well in the centre. After settling for a week, she is always looking forward to go to school. Every evening, when i picked her up, Teacher Michelle will share my girls progress in school. Now, my girl is able to feed and do things on her own, talk about school, sing rhymes in English and Mandarin. What amaze me is that she is more open to stranger now. She is not a shy girl anymore. The teachers are ready to share their knowledge like how can i help my child not to be picky on food, how do i toilet train at home.
There are times when i come early to fetch my girl, or will just walk pass 48 i can hear children singing and teachers interacting with the children. What touches me most is that the teachers actually encourage the children to greet us and they also encourage my girl to not only greet to me during sending and fetching her, other parents as well.
A Happy Child Is A Happy Mummy !!!

lovelygirl

Wow, did not know 48 so bad, I thought throwing books is already bad enough, I believe its the attitude of the teachers, like the one I saw throwing the books, her face is those very stern kind, not approaching at all, makes me wonder is she trained and why she chose this profession in the first place.

Me and my husband went to both no.2 and no.48 as well. I went no.2 first followed by no. 48. It was sometime during the end of August around 1pm. First impression was rather good actually when I stepped in. It was spacious, bright and airy. The lady who attended to us was very pleasant, friendly and speaks well. In the midst of showing us the curriculum in their office, I excused myself to the washroom. Just when I was about to make my way back to their office, I thought I should just go checked out the classrooms along the toilet. One room door was open which I can see a few kids were sleeping, one lady was patting a child.Opposite the classroom, there is another classroom with door closed. Out of curiosity, I pushed a little and peeped. Thank god that I have done so. Immediately I made up my mind that I will never put my child there! There is this lady with long hair whom I believe is a teacher sleeping on a mattress with a boy occupying almost 3/4 of the space and the poor boy sleeping with only one arm and one leg on the floor. The worst thing is she even kept herself warm covering a red cardigan while the poor boy with just shorts and tee. There is another lady also sharing half of mattress with a child lying her body straight with her head resting on the wall. That is truly unbelievable!! The worst part is both were so sound asleep that none noticed me. Imagine if you put your children there!?? Your poor child might be sleeping on the floor shivering. Can you imagine if your child is under their care? I seriously wouldn’t even want to take the chance. I might as well be on the waiting list of no.2. The principle there is warm and friendly, the children seem enjoying themselves very much. Can really feel their happiness like ‘stupid woman’ described. Although it is smaller as compared to no.48, it is also much cleaner in term of cleanliness. The toilet are also much cleaner.

I got so carried away sharing what I witness that I nearly forgotten I need some help here. It has been a long wait actually, still no news from no. 2 and my helper is giving me some problem. Can someone please please recommend me any good Childcare like no.2 around seng kang, if possible
somewhere nearer to this jalan Merdu area is best!

Impression of the school nearer to Kinderland is much better than the other. Principal is friendly and nice, was there in the morning slightly after 10am, when I entered the school, a group of children whom i think are the playgroup kids looked at me, some waved their hands while some smile and said hello. Can see that children are enjoying the activities engaged in. Laughters comes from not only the children but the teachers as well. I was in the school office for quite a while as principal explained the curriculum and answered some of the questions I had. I realised that children will stopped and waved to the principal whenever they past by the office. Can see that this principal has very good rapport with the children. I am on waiting list now, hope my child can get in next year.

48 Jalan Merdu is very spacious as compared to the other branch but I do not feel the happiness of the children as I walked into the school. There is a child crying in a coner but no teacher seems to bother. Teachers seem fierce, no smile on their face and I happen to see a chinese teacher throwing books to the children as I was being shown around upstairs. I would not opt to put my child in this centre even if there is vacancy.

If cannot see, listen-hear if the teachers are screaming at the kids, many kids crying(of cos does not mean one kid cry means the center is bad-could be first timer) or happy kids singing/laughing. If you can see, try not to let teachers see that you are there.

Other centers in the area
-Treasure box child development center
-Cherie hearts
-Agape little uni
-Rosyth child care

Any specific criterias?
