Or learning mandarin speaking the fun way?


I find that most tuition/enrichment emphasis is on drilling exam techniques, strategies to tackle compre and memorising compo phrases. Even for oral type, emphasis is on scoring points for oral exam.

Other than speech and drama kind of lessons, are there anywhere/anyone who teaches kids in a fun way? Such as watching movie together and discuss, learning through songs or anything like that, without academic focus.

Or is any tutor interested/able to teach in such a way? I have 2 kids (K2/p3) and location is at Jurong West St 52.

Hi, I know of one good Math tutor from a tuition centre named Simon Eio Learning Lab but it's located at Clementi, just two bus stops away from the mrt. Mr Eio is an experienced teacher and has taught reputable schools like NJC and CJC. Both my sons really like his interactive lessons and has improved greatly. He published assessment books named Step by Step and it's great for my boys to use as revision. I can give you the centre's phone number if you would like.

We're at the tail end of our December holiday workshops where kids had a taste of our in-house tips and tricks!

Something fun from yesterday's workshop -- I told the children that we'd have eclairs during our break time (their fav, eclairs are always a hit) -- then an hour later asked them to imagine their reaction if they were to find out that it was all a lie. These sentences were a nice productive activity for them to display their new skills in a specific sentence structure for speech! All smiles when there truly were eclairs ... LOL! Such good sports :')


So nice to have smiley faces in the classroom, gaining new friends and new ideas... Now we're raring to go for 2018! Wave if you'll be joining us!

Ended up going with 1 month paid trial with Raffles Edulab since I put my kid there for preschool too. Very homely feel. Eldest goes for A-math and English, taught by former RI RJC boy. So far so good. My middle one is trying out their student care. $300 per month. He’s on paid trial too for 1 month. I feel is more worth it than paying for three different subjects. Every day he can ask the teachers questions.

I have faced similar challenges finding tutor for my son. It was time consuming and frustrating with very limited options to choose from and that too without any real testimony that tutor I’m getting from tuition agency or teacher in “so called branded” tuition centers.
I feel, not just me most of the parent goes through this and definitely there’s a problem worth fixing. So I’m working on a project to find solution help parents. But I need help from parents to understand all the pain, problem and what they exactly look for. All the parents wants to help their kids to learn, but it private tutors or fancy tuitions centers are the only options?
I’m not selling anything here, its not a pitch, it’s a call to seek help from fellow parents. If we get the problem then only we’d be able to find a solution for it that would help the whole parent community and their kids. So I urge parents to share their experiences. Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to share on the thread.
