just a poll, how many tuition classes and enrichment classes does ur child have in a week? i mean pri sch going child.

do u have tuition for all subjects?

mine have eng compo, ch compo, math n sci, piano and recently swimming and 1 day (only) for cca. i wonder is it too much. but then i duno whc one can drop. i cant teach sci, and math if p5-6. for lang classes my gal weak in compre and compo is sthing i feel need practise. i duno wat to drop

it's more than just driving & ferrying ... still need to wait for them to finish lesson, usually > 1 to 1.5 hrs.

That's why 1 week I can go library 2x or more. Most of their classes are fairly near library (walk or drive). Gives me something to look forward to.

Not really, but untested and expensive schools. before mall was up, I used to hope fervently that a school I like will open. no such luck. Anyway, we are living in central area and the schools my kids go to all within 15 min drive.

For me, its also the driving part that sometimes \"overwhelmed\" me....
DS1 (P3) - berries, tennis, piano, swimming, HCL class after school (all once a week )
DD2 (P1) - berries (different time fr DS1), piano, swimming, art, suppl class (all once a week)

DS2 (K1)- nothing cos cannot cope oredi.....
DD4- nothing, only starting N2 next yr.

Wkends-another session of tennis for DS1 and DD2 plus the art class for DD2 .As far as possible, we scheduled everything on weekdays so that can do family stuff on weekends.
Also no academic stuff other than chinese cos still can coach, maybe hv to get external help on Maths by P5 cos I cant even handle some of P3 maths this term....took me a good 15min to figure out with DS's help some more.... ๐Ÿ˜“

Driving kids around for this and that class/tuition is VERY tiring.
Have to keep looking at the time to make sure you don't be late...have to allocate more time in case of traffic jam.

That's why I also no motivation to go popular......kids no time to do assessment once they reach upper primary.

Come weekend, I'll refuse to drive whenever possible.

DH simply dun understand how tedious it is, he always claim very easy...short trips only mah. But when you keep leaving the house in every 30-60 mins, it's very disrupting and tiring, I drive until :sick:

yeah, the traffic jam (especially at busy shopping mall), fighting for a parking lot :siao: , and sometimes got to wolf down some food in the car............. double whammy if you have an irriated and howling young one in the car seat. :faint:

For instance, neither dh nor I can play any instruments or draw reasonably well. Have to send to music teachers & attend drawing class. Or we can totally forget about learning these activities even if weโ€™re home. Probably end up watching TV together. Dh knows he isnโ€™t allowed to play golf regardless


Academic aspect is comparatively easier. Between dh & I, we can coach all subjects. However, can be quite stressful to keep completely in tune with the entire syllabus. So must strike a balance somewhere. Maybe outsource a little, coach a little, adjust the scale depending on our strength & weaknesses.

so far both our weekend mornings are burnt having to 'wait' around for the children. husband will not complain if both the boys are in class and he can sit around and chat with me. he will only complain if only one (usually older) is in class and i will be tied up with the other one (ds2) and neglect the husband. ๐Ÿ˜“

Of course complain la. I laid my rules, non negotiable on this - dh is not allowed to spend 6 to 7 hours playing golf on weekends. And absolutely no overseas golf trip either. I expect him to be involved in kids' education.

The waiting time while kids are attending classes, he can still play at the driving range or surf internet/ read newspapers.

My hb is more than happy to wait for that 2 hours. He usually find a nice cafe and surf the net over a nice cuppa while waiting. 2 hours of uninterrupted bliss on a busy weekend ๐Ÿ˜„

my Pri 3 boy has chinese enrichmt, english enrichmt, chinese compo & swimming on weekeneds.
His CCA is Librarian, CCA is compulsory in his school and it is "conducted" during school hour. So, he doesnt need to stay back after school. I like that.

For my preschooler, he has chinese enrichmt and I juz signed him up for ICR on weekends.

So, my weekends are burnt, usually spent around the enrichmt centres, day dreamingโ€ฆ
