It is not a school for foreigners but a local French Public school. Repeating a year was almost unheard of in our little town.<br /><br />LFS to me is very diverse - apart from singaporean and french moms there are also japanese, thai, korean, indonesian, german, chinese etc moms as well. And many kids have lived in other countries and/or studied under different education systems. IMO it's difficult for the teachers to adapt especially at the lower levels CP, CE1. This is the root cause of endless enrichment classes, stress for parents and kids and kids losing their childhood.<br /><br /><br />If at the end of the day when u compare a foreign 20yr old and a local one studying in the same uni course, the only diff is that one has had a great childhood while the other has spent his/hers doing assessment books.</p>

Some may say it is good for pupils who put in consistently. <br /><br /><br />To me, in chinese " change soup, no change medicine" literal translation.  Quarterly byte size assessment = CA1, SA1, CA2, SA2.  The only diff is that the marks are spread out equally 25% for each term, whereas previously weightage is very skew towards SA2</p>

His school practises stealth exam…they don’t inform me, and I only know after the fact - that’s only IF DS bothers to update me about what went on.</p>

Teachers will just pick any work to based the CA or SA mark on. More stressful for me as my children need exam drilling to score… but this system has its own merits - especially for those children who are disciplined.</p>

Although most schools have done away with CA/SA, there are still tests at the end of every term. I was shocked when my daughter first came back with letter of the dates of the summative tests in May. She’s in P1, by the way. The second test was in August and then this month Oct again.</p>
