2 weeks back, I received a SMS informing me that my \"Mobile has won 750,000 pounds in iPhone Mobile Draw 2011\" and yesterday another sms informing me that my \"Mobile has won 750,000 pounds in Nokia Mobile Draw 2011\" ! :boogie:

1.5 mil pounds !! :rahrah: And I don't even own a nokia nor iphone ! πŸ•Ί

some ppl might fall into this kind of scam...
despite newspapers reports of people who lost $$ and advice from police, there are always people who still fall into such scams and some victims are even professionals and highly educated ones... guess greed and being naive/ignorant/misplaced sympathy do play a major role

Really so easy to catch them??? In China, think it's more likely that the police themselves are involved with the syndicate... maybe just to throw you off the track, then they continue call the next no. on their mailing list...

then he took the sms to the police & file a report. The police told us to wait for news & that they will be tracking down the syndicate.

where got time to wait? in the end we return back to Singapore w/o knowing the outcome.

Suprisingly, the police sent us an email, informing us they managed to track down the syndicate & throw them behind bars.

Any idea?

If in Indonesia, quite a number 'hit' the scam. They lost the money and then report to the police. Usually you were asked to call the number given and then most likely you'll be 'hipnotized' :pokeeye: . That's what I read in newspaper. The problem is the scammer use fake id to open a bank account and after withdrawing the sum then not traceable. Should not be easy I guess in Singapore πŸ˜„

they will ask the victim to remit some \"admin fee\" + \"payable tax\" to some offshore account so that they can \"process\" the release of the prize money.
