Was womdering if MT result is not taken into account for academic performance? My chikd's school MT scores report was a separate copy. It is not included in report book. I \"gathered\" that MT results will not be used for determination of overall performance. Correct me if I am wrong? 😄

Also what is Higher MT for?

I hope someone can clarify my doubts. TIA.

Tks. Yr DD school practice is more practjcal. DS 'school also streamed the students after SA1 but the emphasis is not on MT, I think.

Which level is your ds in this year? Some schools place the kids in different classes base on 3 subjects(exclude MT) total scores or 4 subjects total scores..

My child in P1 this year. So, some schools really exclude MT? DS scored full marks for his MT tests. I dare not tell him thart it will not be included in the academic excellency. Just in case he lose motivation.
Luckily, he scored very well for the other subjects,too but he will not have an advantage over who have 0.5marks higher than his other 2 subhects but scored 10% lower than him in MT.
He didn't understand why he is not top. so embarassed ,must prepare an answer for him for year-end report liao.
Luckily, he is curremtly a natural learner. Didn't put special efforts for his MT. If not, he sure feels effort wasted.

Maybe your ds' school is more special and different schools would have different practise. My dd's school will put kids in 2 top class base on p3 results..one class using 3 subjects exclude MT and the other top class is based on all 4 subjects results..
Basically, the reasons for the schools to do such arrangement is to put the kids into classes which suits their academic ability especially for MT. For my dd's school, they will start to go to diff Chinese class after 1st semester of p1 based on their SA1 Chinese results. But they will still be in the same class for all other subjects.

in PSLE, 4 subj : EL, MT, Maths, Sc R tested, And All Carry Approx. Equal Weightage to Compute the Final PSLE Score. This is use for posting to Sec 1 Sch.

And Historically, there is a High Percentage of Students who Score Good Marks for MT, Compare to other Subj 😂 😂

As For HCL, it is useful for Application to SAP Sec Sch.
Additional Points can be added to the PSLE score as follows :
Distinction : 3
Merit : 2
Pass : 1

Tks 4 reply. I was wondering why theree is so many enrichment centres yet DS's FT said that if there is ranking, it will be based on the other 2 subjects only. :shock:

My child is lst year in P1. So I still dunno how the school system is like. 🤷

Maybe if consider MT result, there will be disparity. His classmates who did well in the other subjects did not do well in MT.

Now I feel better that My DS who did well in MT has something to look fwd to. 😄
.i.e to go for higher MT.

isn't MT part of the t-score ? how could it be excluded from report book ?
