I have Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007, no other softwares.I managed to insert chinese characters using the same procedures.Sorry my kung fu level is not high enough.I can only take you this far.Please wait for other members to reply.

You may follow the following steps to insert images/pictures.

1) Do a print screen of the portion you want to upload.

2) Edit using paint. Cut out the portion of the question you want to upload.

3) Save file in pictures

4) Go to Flickr (Free sign up as member) or other storage sites. Upload file. Select biggest/medium size. Right click to copy URL of image.

5) Coming back to Kiasuparents forum, click insert image button.

now i have a problem.. the final step screen dont have the chinese for me to choose.. my screen has only english for selection... sigh..

And in the new Mac OS coming out in September, Snow Leopard this will also be possible.


Used to be back in the Windows 95 days you needed extra software such as Twinbridge to enter Chinese, but since Windows XP you have not. Very easy to set up, just download the language pack after doing the settings in Windows and your set.

Hi, if you look at the taskbar of windows (at bottom of the screen where the \"start\" button is). At the bottom right hand corner, you can see the words \"EN\", click on it and you should be able to to see \"CH\" being offered. Select \"CH\" to select the chinese language and you should be able to input chinese characters by han yu pin yin.

You have to do the below instructions first in order allow you to select what Carrotree had mentioned.

1) Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options

2) Under Regional and Language Options, please click on 'Language' tab

3) Under 'Language' tab, click on 'Details' button -> 'Settings'

4) You will see 'Installed services', click on 'Add' taht will bring you 'Add Input language'; input language : Chinese (PRC), keyboard layout/IME : Chinese (Simplified)-Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0 or Chinese (Simplified)-US keyboard.

After this, pls follow what carrotree had mentioned.

Its a translation tool, make sure you select English to Simp-Chinese... As with all translation tools, they're not so smart to take care of sentence structure between different languages... So what you may do is to type the string of words in English that you would like to have in Chinese, need not be a proper sentence.

Eg Type in \"I you him her when why how\", you get \"ๆˆ‘ๆ‚จไป–ๅฅน๏ผŒๅฝ“ไธบไป€ไนˆๆ€Žไนˆ\" ... Just another alternative, in case it works for some. Alternative just get a Mac cos it comes with it's own feature to switch between languages. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thanks for your tips. I used a silly way to input chinese characters in posts as I didn't know how, and I don't have the chinese software. Found this website http://www.mandarintools.com/worddict.html that translates Chinese to English words. I type in each word in hanyu pinyin and copy and paste the selected word from a list displayed. Very time consuming ๐Ÿ˜ข
Wow sunflower! I must say you are very creative to work around the issues. If you are not typing massive chinese text, this seems pretty smart way of doing it given the lack of resource. ๐Ÿ˜‰

First your operating system (eg. Windows XP) must be Chinese capable. Here's a simple guide to install Chinese input methods for Windows XP:

You may need you Windows XP installation disk. Note that for Singapore, we use Simplified Chinese. So instead of installing Chinese (Taiwan) as suggested by the guide, you should replace that with Chinese (PRC) instead.
