<![CDATA[Rice Cooker]]>Any recommendations for rice cooker which is not teflon-coated (inner pot)?

Currently, I’m using such coated ones and every now and then, I have to change rice cooker.

I already have a thermal pot and a pressure cooker. So, I don’t really need a multi-function cooker - just something that can cook rice easily.

Hubby read the manual for the new rice cooker. It said the inner pot even with some peeling is still safe to use :roll:
Just need to be more careful with the utensils you put into the pot and how you wash it.

I managed to maintain my 2nd happycall quite well...no scratch and non-stick still very 'non-stick' after quite a few years!! 😂

Huh.. You didn’t call the number I provided yesterday? The Zojirushi dealer told me they do sell just the replacement (inner) pot.

Don’t waste that $500+ cooker lah. The $218 one can keep it as house warming gift for your friends/relatives. 😄

I called and was told the replacement pot was about $160. Indeed it was a waste of $500+ bec only the pot needs to be replaced and all still ok. We used it for close to 7 years and hubby said time to change.

Yes, can cook up to 5 cups of rice.
I prefer to use small pot too. The only reason why I'm using a big a55 rice cooker is coz it's more convenient when it comes to cooking porridge...the watery gooey type 😂

Try to look out for upcoming sales. Yday was out with family. No real plans to shop but chance upon Take sales (last day yday) offering mostly 20% + 10% (for members). Ended up bought winter shoes, sports shoes, clothings & luggages for a steal. We spent a long time trying to align our preferences for hardcase (my preference) & softcase (DH preference). :rotflmao:

TBH most young families no longer cook rice every day; i.e. they hardly need to use those non-stick rice-cooker so often as to get the big-C, right? They will rotate cooking methods: pot-cook noodles/pasta, Thermal pot-cook congee, oven-bake rice/pizza, steam/airfry/panfry/bake/boil potatoes, toss salad, eat bread-base meals like sandwich/burgers/wraps, and sometimes eatout/takeout zichar hor fun which is stir-fried using iron cast wok--I hope! #hedgerisk #begentletopot #勿刮饭锅

I mentioned mine earlier - Morries! Made in Singapore, and a very no-frills brand sold in Sheng Siong and other cheapo shops. I've used mine for about 3 yrs, at least, and the surface is still fine. Only used for cooking rice and doesn't have any fancy settings.

Yes, I also have a clay pot and will use it if I want the aromatic crackling 锅巴 which the smart rice cooker cannot yield.

But like Nebbermind shared, you need to stay by the stove to watch over the fire.
