<![CDATA[Renewal of contract without agent]]>Hi,


I want to know if it is easy to renew the helper’s contract without using an agent? My agent didn’t respond to any of my complaints during the last two years and now when my helpher and me have agreed to renew the contract, we don’t want to use the agent.

The last time I had a helper 8 years back, I did everything on my own (brought the helper from her home country and also renewed the permit online). But this time, had to use an agency due to the new rules.

So if anyone can tell me how to do this without using an agency, I’ll be grateful.

2. maid's 2nd contract if intend to renew her, to be drafted at embassy

My Phil helper's passport is expiring before her work permit, I intend to renew her contract so I have to renew her passport prior to that. I was told to produce an authentic contract endorsed by their embassy, and this endorsement needs to be supported with bond and insurance, I am trap this time coz the agent did not issue any of this document to me when they first handover my helper to me. If the agent knows that I am renewing myself instead of engaging their service, I seriously doubt they will release the documents, blame myself for the oversight... I am at my wit end, can you advise me?

If she is going back to Indo for home leave and need to do her KTKLN card, pls ensure it's drafted by the embassy. Only theirs is recognised.

Hi, I renewed my maid last year but she is going back this year so in the process of getting a new maid....So impression is still quite clear.

For passport, if the validity is more than 2 years, there is no need to renew. However, if the validity is less than 2 years, it is recommended to renew the passport first before you renew her work permit. Otherwise the work permit is only valid up to the passport expiry date. Then you have to go through the entire renewal process again... So might as well just do it right the 1st time round. Mine is indo maid so I did the renewal at the embassy by myself.

Note that there are complications for indo maid if she is going back on home leave and she does not have ktkln card. There is another discussion on this. For this, you will need to ensure that you get a new working agreement drafted as well. Also, you need to remember to do the home leave stamping at the embassy.

For insurance, we got AIA. Bil is a agent so I did everything through him. Eg. submit the form, credit card details and he will tell me when to go online to apply for renewal. Seems to be fuss free. As my maid was with us for 5 years, I went for a mid plan for her so that better medical coverage. I didn't go for bond protector as it is lower risk.

WP Collection was fairly fuss free too as I think we can make appointment? I went on saturday morning and was done within 30 mins.

Hi,

recently renewed my maid's contract.

I did not really source around for insurance, I just grab the one which is more convenient for me. I bought income. The insurance i bought also help to renew the work permit, security bond etc. with courier service to pick up the documents from me from my home.

My maid's passport will only expire in another 3 yrs. So she do not need to renew her passport. So I'm unable to comment on this.

I bet your estate agent will have kept very quiet about the automatic renewal process, in the hope that you will pay them another fee.

There need not be anything in the tenancy agreement about automatic renewal. Statutory means by statute. In other words the government already made this condition. You need only to continue accepting the rent.

I was charged $450 for renewal of passport. After you have renewed your maid's passport, you can do the exit pass application on your own.

For exit pass application for home leave, I asked my maid to go embassy to do on her own. Cost $11 in total. $5.50 for the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) and $5.50 for Pag-IBIG Fund membership contribution $5.50.

do note that renewing the Philippines passport is not as easy as compared to Indonasia's. I just renewed my maid's passport in June. After the application, we need to wait for at least 6-8 weeks for the passport to be ready. You must remember to buffer enough time for that before her work permit expires.

I engaged an agency to do the renewal for me as it's too much of a hassle to do it on my own. The embassy issued abt 120 quota per day. Even I engaged agency's help, my maid still need to go down personally to the embassy to have her photo taken and do some paper work etc. The embassy opens at 9am but many maids already queue outside the embassy to get a queue number before 9am. My maid went down at 5am and got a queue number 70+. I heard from my maid that there are maids who went a few times but couldn't get a queue number so be prepared for that too.

Not possible that passport will expire before work permit as MOM work permit validity is base on passport expiry date.

forgot to add that -
The expiry date of your renewed work permit will also base on the expiry date of your maid.

For ex: maid's passport expire on 01-12-2012. Work permit will be till 01-11/2012.
