<![CDATA[2011 PSLE Results Day 24 Nov]]>My fren asked a question on whether it is necessary for both parents to be present on the PSLE results day or one parent will do or not necessary to have parent’s presence. Daddie went with me but waited for me in the car in the school compound so that i can catch up with my frenz first after the receipt of results and chat for a bit before we all leave for our separate ways… for the last time. Guess that was best, so we didn’t hafta rush what we wanna talk to our frenz about. If have to always look back at parents awaiting… no shiok… Worse if the parent always glance at watch… like cannot wait to go.

From my experiences, my nephews and nieces do not allow their parents or any adult to accompany them to collect the results. However they don't mind their siblings / cousines to tag along !!


They rather choose to talk to their classmates, compare results, discussing which schools to go, go where to celebrate, etc

I think it is good for parents to discuss with the children whether they want you to go or not. Some kids would love to, but some may not want.
Why wouldn't the children want their parents to go with them to collect their PSLE results? Maybe when they are in Sec 4 or JC 2, they may not like their parents to tag along, when they go to school to collect their GCE O or GCE A Levels results, as they are already 16 or 18 years old. But P6 kids are only 12 years old! In fact, most of them may still need their parents to send them to school on that day.. 😉 :evil:

I totally share the same sediment with firefly38. My DH too, said that he is not able to take leave.

I don't understand why not? I've applied leave way ahead even before PSLE exam ended and told him to do so as well. But last night, he said he cannot take leave... so upset.

Anyway, I definitely want to be there to share the moment with DS. See ya.

Kids these days are more fortunate. It’s an important day and milestone, first important national examination and only once in their lifetime, for their PSLE kids. It’s the presence that the kids will care and will most slightly remember like some of you have experienced and remembered, who were there or not there.


Though my DS has expressed that he will not wish my presence,as he may feel pressurized. I will respect him views and wishes. Most slightly will stand outside school (being a gan cheongsam dad) till he comes out with his results.

You can bring your DD if you want. The schools usually do not restrict.
Have even seen entire families going together to get results - grandpa, grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

As for me, DH and I will be going with DD. Would never miss such an important occasion. Must be there for DD, regardless of the results.

Couple of years back, a friend’s dd was very disappointed with her results but controlled herself while at school. The minute she got into the car, she couldn’t control herself and broke down. Luckily her parents were there for her. Sometimes, it’s not just their own disappointment but they felt that they have let their parents down, because mummy and daddy were fighting the war all the way with them. So yes, parents must be there for them.
