i am a p6 student. I hope i have helped. Parents whose child is in p4 this year, mathematics will be the topic that kills most of the children. during ca1, most will not be able to finish paper 1 on time and for paper two, children tend to forget to use calculator as they thought that they will not have enough time to finish papr 2 as they did not finish paper 1 and will get a bit worry n will only think of finishing it. atcually, paper 2 requires your child's thinking skills not their speed. whereas paper 1 requires their speed and accuracy. Next, this is for parents whoose child have opt for hcl next year. they will need to work hard on their composition and comprehension skills. tell you first, i got 21/40 for my first composition when i m in p5 last year. then, i improve to 36/40 this year. in p5 the average i got 4 composition is about 24/40. in p6 the average is about 31/40. i scored 35 for prelim composition. Next, is the comprehension. your child will need to learn to be more careful as 1-3 mistakes made 4 writing the words wrongly will deduct 0.5 mark. so be careful. for science, i tends to do well. i got 91 if not wrg for p5 ca1 exam. for el, i am not very pro as the most i get (p1 to p6) is 85 n below. but the areas that your child can score is oral and lc. Let's all for P5.


Now, for the P5 tis year. You dont need to be afraid. as for me, i have improved. I started working hard after my P6 CA1 exam. I've scored only 31_ for Ca1if not wrg amd improve to 349 during sa1 n 359.1 during prelim. I did well in PSLE. So, there is still time. I have improved cuz i did so many exercise books after ca1 exam. The record: one week for finishing one exercise book(cl) which has 1010 mcq questions!! so there is no short cut. work hard now you will be better. by the way i've gotten 258 for psle. distinction 4 hcl.

(1) If it is not too much to ask, could you upload one example of the mindmap you drew ? (2) Further, the two areas you mentioned - composition and comprehension - how did you practise and improve ? You use assessment books from Popular or your school's worksheet ?

(3) Lastly, you completed 1010 mcq in 1 week ! Do you feel tired ? How do you manage the balance between work and rest ?

Sorry for the late reply cuz i am not in Singapore for the last few days. Yes, I will be applying to IP schools. If you want to know more, here's my six choices:

2)As for me, I will practice using sch n popular workbooks. I will just write n write but learn from my mistakes too. I will write and give my teacher to mark.
1)short n sweet(2 to 3 pages for el n at least 3 n a half pages for cl)
2)use good phrases
3)no careless mistakes like misspelled words or use the wrong punctuation
4)the sentence must flow
This is what a good composition will be.

I basically I love to write compositions. But it is not at the very start when I stared writing compositions in schools. At the very start, I hate composition writing. :gloomy: Until P6, this was when I love writing compositions. I wrote something like this:
谁是微笑的创始者？
谁是笑容的创始人？
微笑到底是谁带来的，
笑容又是谁给我的，
答案就是我周围的朋友们，
每个人带来的一点一滴，
都是聚集在一起的欢乐，
并且默默地变成我的快乐。
In english:
Who is the founder of a smile?
Who is the creator of a smile?
Who brought the smile to us,
and who is the one who gave it to me?
The answer is I have friends around,
everyone brought a little bit,
which are gathered together as joy,
and silently formed my happiness.

This was what I wrote in chinese. I've shown it to my parents and teacher and they said that was good. They helped me to change the phrasing a little bit and I learnt from my mistakes. I've improve cuz I write n write, learn n learn.

As for comprehension, firstly, read the question once then read the passage. then, mark the answers in the passage. Finally, answer it. For english, try to use your own words n write short n sweet answer, straight to the point. example: Who is the founder of Singapore? The question is asking about who. Just answer who is it and leave it. do not explain how and when. Write in complete sentences. Remember to check the tenses and punctuation like fullstops. For chinese, I use to write long answers but all are the main point of the answer. Just practice n practice. But must understand the question and passage first. Then, you will do well. Feel free to ask the teachers for help! This is what I have done. :rahrah: good luck!

3) Not so tired. Just concentrate and answer the questions. For me, cuz I am quite good in chinese so for me: 2 minutes ten questions. so, 100 questions 20 minutes. Honestly, I study for 1h per day, excluding doing sch work and tuition work n sat n sundays. :oops: I did synthesis ten questios, 100 questions of chinese mcq, 1 close passage, 1 exercise of science worksheet(10 mcq and 3 open ended), finally, revision for math(taught in sch n go through mistakes in tuition works). That's all.The rest, I read story books or write chinese stories n compositions.

Just remember, use the right method of studying. Read more storybooks and learn more words. Try to form a study group and find someone that is better than you n work for his/her marks. You will improve.

I don't know which school's Maths paper scared me.Now I went back and see is not that difficult,can survive in P4.I have advanced learners topical papers and one challenging book.When I saw these qns.I felt hard.Then yesterday I went to pop and buy easy book and easy topical papers.So I have the confident.

I think ur kids did well for P3 .so u all relax.
I just want to know about S&T thats why I open the paper(2010)paper that I bought for science cos of my son's school has different theme,i couldn't find in P3.Most of the schools teach in P4.When I bought for sci I bought all.Usually I just take it easy and cool as my son doesn't want to do more practise.But after relax in the holidays he can't study in the school days.He tired.So from my experience with my son,I planned use this holiday useful and let him free when school opens.
Funny,after CA1 only I bought that TOP school paper and got to know science has section B.I think, after joining KSP I also became member of KSP :evil:
