All four runners of the 4 x 100 metre relay team who who a silver medal for Singapore at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games were former Victorians: Calvin Kang, Gary Yeo (both VS), Amirudin Jamal and Lee Cheng Wei (both VJC). So was one of the two reserves in the team, Lim Yao Peng (VJC).

Another Victorian, Lance Tan (VS/VJC) was in the 4 x 400 metre relay team.

Mr Siow has left the school, but he really connected well with the students when he was there. Somehow MOE HQ takes in all the good talent. I'm not sure if you are a parent choosing schools at the moment, but if you have chosen VS, your son will experience the impact of Mr Siow's work very soon during the sec 1 orientation camp.

I'm not too sure. Mr Low was my principal while I was there so when he left, this video became viral on Facebook and that's how I found it.

My advice to all parents is to weigh the pros and cons of IP for your children. You know your children best. There are many factors affecting a child performance. It is not a be all and end all option. DS3 knows of friends who drop out of IP due to poor performance and those who opt for other JCs to do IP after sec 2 instead of continuing in VS to do O level or aim for a place in VS IP (don’t ask me I don’t know the true story and not kaypo enough to check with his mum). Is his friend making the right choice? Time will tell. For DS3, he rather go through O level and try for VJC cos he doesn’t want to take the risk of not getting O level if he doesn’t do well in IP.

I find it strange that students from other schools will be considered for VS IP in Sec 3. It will be difficult to compare among different students from VS and non-VS.

Just hope that he will stay (like for another year...hahahaa...wish wish wish) on to ensure the IP program is successfully implemented There is a new principal Mr Andrew Lim, formerly Deputy Principal RI, taught also in some JCs and was also HOD before. Mr Low is really one prinicipal whom I would love to see my kids have in their growing years. He's so much like a fatherly figure and he's young. Very approachable type. Very impressive. I have been to a few open houses and heard several principals talk... from the very elite to the good ones. He's the most outstanding one. A parent complimented him and he admitted that many boys go to him as though he's their father ... and he said \"I don't even have kids of my own\". Wow... very impressive guy.

Now re DSA - he did not say how many under sports. But one parent asked what was in the DSA application process - he said that they had to do some ability test... thought he said General Ability Test... and he implied that some kids might not want to go Bishan IP school but would consider Victoria since it is much nearer to their home in the east. And, that many of these kids are very high calibre. Also during the school tour, we met students who were formerly from Tao Nan, Maha Bodhi, Red Swastika and Kong Hwa. So thought they have indeed a good lot of kids from good schools. Apparently a lot of these kids 250s and even 260s go to Victoria cos it is nearer their home. So Mr Low said that during this DSA exercise some IQ are really high. The only figures he mentioned was 43 DSA given out (he did not say confirmed or wait list.... but I guess it is confirmed... and he did not say how many wait list DSA he gave out). And he said after PSLE, he is left with only 40 places. However he did say there will be additional intake in Sec 3 year. Perhaps you could give him a call. Am sure he will entertain calls.
