Anand Ravindran , a good rugby player, studied at St Andrew Secondary School ( top rugby school in Singapore ) and completed his GCE O levels at Secondary Four and was admitted to Raffles Institution via Rugby DSA ( Direct School Admission ) for JC students.


According to his schoolmates, Anand is not your regular goodie-goodie RI boy and hang out more with his former St Andrew's school mates. He is not the academic type and is quite aggressive and \" garang\" in his demeanour.

In fact, Anand was with a former St Andrew Secondary School school mate Don Tan when they were attacked by the other gang after Don Tan punched one of the other gang members in the nose and caused him to bleed, based on reports by The New Paper.
So the settlement was it due to Anand has \"betrayed\" the St Andrew ruby team ? So those who stabbed Anand were gangster not from St Andrew?

I told him best don’t respond at all… U see Don n Anand walked passed this small group (of 3) and heard someone said "it’s that him?" He turned to look… see… don’t look! I told my kid hear, look down on the floor BEST… Told him that some 20 yrs ago, some Thai contacts of my boss asked me "Why do you think Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles?" I went "huh? don’t know" He said … best smile then you won’t get into trouble cos if you look a bit funny or born with a unfriendly face you might just get shot. Then I remembered my boss said…"U know he carries a gun near his ankle". I was so shocked… why? He said he is prepared for anything… kidnappers, robbers, weirdos… wah… and that was over 20 yrs ago. And never would I think one day I would read about stories that I hear in the States, in other countries cos Singapore is safe. Sigh… so so sad.

I must find a mountain to go and live for my old age… don’t want to know what would happen in this country? No eyes to see liao.

The article where it stated that the group pushed Don and Don punched (1st) the others was in Saturday’s Straits Times. Today, has an article too.
Actually, just on Monday (28 Nov), I told my friend to get his relative who is somebody in the Police Force to come out with a holiday program or a school educating kids on how to avoid trouble etc other than the "Soccer Club" which the police is running during school holidays to keep kids occupied. Soccer Club only seem to be mainly for boys… perhaps have something for girls too. Hope anyone in this forum has some connection with Family Service or MCYS to come up with programs to reach out to these kids, esp when parents are already so busy and stressed making ends meet.

The friend managed to escape probably because he has other similar encounters and knows how to size up the situation and when to take off. However, the RI guy reacted too slow and was blocked and stabbed.


Once we were eating at a coffee shop and our food had just been served. Suddenly a fight broke out a few tables away. My DH grabbed us and moved away though I felt that there was no necessity to do so. On hindsight, my DH was right.

Police have arrested five teenagers aged between 15 and 17 who are believed to have attacked two other youths, including a Raffles Institution student who was stabbed.

A staring incident could have triggered the attack which took place in broad daylight. Raffles Institution student Anand Ravindran, 17, was stabbed in the back by the knife-wielding teenagers at the void deck of Blk 122 Potong Pasir Ave 3 on Thursday afternoon.

He is recovering in the high dependency ward at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. According to one of his teachers, his condition has improved and he is able to talk now.

His friend, 17-year-old Don Tan, escaped with a bruise on his right eye where he was punched.
