Initially, I will make sure she rinse herself clean especially her hair. Now, she shower herself before going to afternoon school and washes her hair when she is back from school. I still check on her hair or do another thorough rinse for her.

I remember my DS1 was quite old before he showers on his own. My DS2 requested to shower on his own (include washing his own hair) at about 4yo. Once in a while he will request for me to shower him when he claim he's 'tired', I'll usually obliged and take the opportunity to clean him thoroughly.

I think if we want the kid to be independent, got to let go at some point and close one eye, they are bound to waste some water and soap because they usually play with water and soap while showering. My 2 boys will usually shower together and I can hear them playing in the shower. As long as it doesn't get out of hand, I'll just leave it as long as they get the shower done.

SAHMwith2boys

Reply to At what age do you get your child to shower on their own? on Wed, 28 Dec 2011 04:24:54 GMT

My dd1 requested to shower herself when she was 2 yr old.
