Its a proxy to China's growth story with no S-chip financial accuracies concern.

Fundamentals: Its a growth co with its turnover doubled over the last 4 yrs from S$2.48B yr 2006 to S$5.1B YR 2010. Nett profit grew from S$61.1M to S$120M respectively. For FY2011, my estimate is nett profit of around S$95-97M. Current trading price is S$1.88. Total dividends S$0.10/shr, which gives you a yield of more than 5%. In yr 2008 which was their worst performing in recent yrs, the dividend was cut to S$0.05/shr which still gave a yield exceeding 2.5% Its nett asset backing is S$2.10 approx. Even at the nxt resistance of S$2.06, its PE is only 7.8x which is rather resonable for a mid size blue chip.

Technicals: The price has on recent days broke out of its base formation and is poised to test the overhead resistance of S$2.06 over the coming weeks bearing any negative market sentiment overseas.

The above is only an example of another alternative within the HL group. Its is not my aim to encourage you to buy the co's share. Just want to state that excess money into FD to obtain higher interest rate is not a winner's technique.

Edureach

Reply to Which is the best FD currently ? on Fri, 03 Feb 2012 02:15:05 GMT

Hong Leong Finance 1.18% for 2 yrs fixed deposist.
