What is your opinion if such programme includes games like throwing darts at the crest/badge of their rival schools just for fun?

I am sorry to have disappointed you for failing to provide accurate details on how or when the game was played, the school involved, etc. Yes, without specific and accurate information, the credibility of this incident is questionable. Please do take it as rubbish if you do not believe in it.

I have chosen to be vague so that the good name of the school is not compromised. It is also not my desire to seek punishment or to smear their reputation. I am posting this information only with the hope that through this forum, it can be filtered to the people involved so that it would not be repeated. Most importantly, nobody should suffer because of this folly.

In essence, how the game was played is not important, but the means employed to heighten the so-called “fun” is not agreeable to me and I hope that it could be stopped. It suddenly occurred to me that I should have just emailed the school directly instead of arousing curiosity - yes I think I will just do that. Must be serving too much in this forum to make me start the thread after hearing the story.

So may this be my last post in this thread.

Yes. Should have emailed the school directly as a concerned parent. It's not nice to post unverified information/hearsays that potentially could do harm to innocent parties.

You see, it speaks a lot when it was supposed to be dart throwings game and later, it became bag whackings and till now, we don't know which is which for sure.

No. I am not frustrated at the lack of information. Generally speaking, I feel that we must be mindful of what we post lest it come across as stirling emotions, irresponsible or worst, defamatory.

Furthermore, it may not be the fault of the school authority because it may not be fully aware of the happenings. I just hope that someone from the school do read this thread and stop student leaders from conducting such activities in future or at least take the cue and remind their student leaders on what to avoid. I am sure you do know that many schools do have reps that follow this forum very closely.

Why start this thread, in the first place, if it is not your intention to start a flame war in this forum? Or your intention was to arouse curosity and start a guessing game of which school you were referring to?

If this incident had not happened in a 'top school' (so claimed by you), would you have bothered to mention it at all, in this forum?

Just for curiosity, which sch is this now???

Heard this from a nephew yesterday, a top school. However, I have not been able to confirm with anyone from that school so better not mention name. I believe some parents might know. Hope the game is organised/limited to just that class and not the whole school, which I strongly believe to be so because no administrator/teacher will be so silly to approve it.

so it is just some silly activities done by some silly kids and not a silly PROGRAM by the school orientation

It is also a good time to reveal the character of individuals so you know who can click with. Never heard of such programe you mention and it is very unhealthy. I witness, in competitions, losing team would cheer for wining team and via versus but i also witness losing team not cheering for wining team and just cry over together. The school culture is very important and such orientation programe can refect the school culture. Usually orientation programes are drafted by students commitee and approve by the school.
