In terms of familiarity with qn type, not helpful. In terms of feeling prepared and getting into exam mode - moderately helpful.

What could also be helpful is doing a few IQ/general ability type qns (if and when child is selected for selection test).

I find this site called Test-Prep Online helpful. Based on a lot of research on Gifted Selection tests around the world, I found this site that has 4 of the main tests used in the US (e.g. the New York Gifted selection test, John Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth selection test). There are video guides, study guides, free test downloads. They have a page that shows you how to prepare your child for Gifted tests http://bit.ly/1M2H9h0 which I thought was useful because it talks about managing test anxiety and focus. The different tests they have include the CogAT NNAT, OLSAT, SCAT. They have a premium bundle that I think is very good value for money for $99 (12 months access to all the test papers ranging from kindergarten to age 12). I guess it's hard to say which grade is equivalent = their Grade 3 is age 9 which should be equivalent to our Pri 3 but I know that our Math is 2 years ahead of the US, so you might want to download the tests for Grade 4 or Grade 5 as well. The good thing is that the bundle gives you unlimited access so you can start off with a lower grade and move up, or start harder and move down. Most of the tests have a verbal, math and non-verbal (pattern recognition, cognitive, abstract reasoning) component. The premium bundle can be found here: http://bit.ly/1M2I6G6 and includes over 3000 questions (as well as their personality tests, job interview tests, etc). Actually it's not only good for GEP, it's good advice and practice for all test taking.

michellelee1010

Reply to GEP Assessment Books on Tue, 01 Sep 2015 15:01:00 GMT

Does any friend here have the GA book year 5 by Alan horsfield that you no longer need that I could buy?
