Well, before the video, my hubby really read to her every day…with or without showing the book. The VCD actually is free with the book. I happened to buy this book while i was 30 weeks pregnant at a book fair but i did find it and more of such books at Union bookstore at Bras basah or the other chinese bookstore there.

Now i bought the whole series and let her see once a while but she is still interested in the san zhi jing (maybe thats becoz we did read to her)…
my hubby lets her play on our bed and just reads it whether or not she was listening… after a few days, she wa watching my hubby’s lips and was like trying to learn how to speak it! so maybe you shold start by reading to her first… here is a photo of the book… Hope it helps… The barcode is ISBN 978-7-5315-4099-1 the last time i called to check if they have stock first. Costs about SGd5 each with free VCD. But we also have another set that includes san zhi jing, qian zhi wen (the thousand word book) and bai jia xing (thousand surnames) with CD and DVD but that one is more serious so we will let her see that one when she starts school (although she also watch it now…hahah)

I started with san zhi jing because its one of the easiest books to pick up yet its a very thorough ancient main book that teaches life’s values and history… easy for us to understand too… my husband says that ancient chinese studies the 4 main books first followed by 6 main’jing’

there are a total of 7 types of other books under this range and we bought all but not rushing into it yet…

These classes are usually free or nominal fee.


Kallang CC has dizigui class on saturday afternoon next year at 3pm and we have been with the teacher for 5 years. Our boys have promoted to understudy 论语

I would like to share the below youtube by one of the famous Taiwan professor who promote the reading of Chinese Classics textbooks. You will learn a lot from him. He stressed the importance of memorising Chinese classics books and poems for children below 13. If your kids are above 13, I am regretted to let you know, according to him, it will be too late for such learning.

讀經的孩子有福了. 請譲孩子用正體字（or Traditional Chinese）讀經. 在新加坡， 我想因為政治問題，我們这代和下一代都没有機會學習正體字。
真是很可惜。正體字（繁體字）是難學，可是一上手，字體有内涵。簡字容易写，没内涵，孩子如何对字有興趣？認識正體字（繁體字），你就會認識中國五千多年的歷历史，认识简体，你只能认识中国五十年而以。

以上这些重在培养道德品质。
新加坡目前根本没有一个有完善系统的儿童国学，“小小夫子国学馆”就是将其变为一个系统，不但从道德角度“仁义礼智信温良恭俭让”入手，而且加入小孩耳熟能详的国学经典，譬如：笠翁对韵（培养语感，声韵和谐），论语（培养辩证思维），大学中庸尚书等就不必说了，但说唐宋诗词都是通过说唱的方式进行教学，而且过后学生不但读起来i朗朗上口，背诵也不是问题，那么华文的知识不但增长，识字量也大幅度提高。欢迎咨询。
