I have stayed in Toh Yi since 1998. Every night after having dinner and coming back, we had to circle the estate several times before we find a parking lot. When the land in front of our block was transformed into a car park, we were so happy. However, it is not permanent but 'temporary car park'. There are no red lots drawn for residents. Sometimes, we just don't understand what HDB or URA etc etc is thinking. After putting residents thru noise and inconvenience of construction & the money invested, just get rid and build. :moneyflies: :moneyflies:

Toh Yi got a lot elderly people? Why need so many elderly studio apartments? Sounds like a great deal of inconvenience for Toh Yi residents

There's a day care for the elderly at the void deck next to my block (in fact 2 blocks both serving the same centre). Nobody protested or even bothered when it was built. Guess everybody in my neighbourhood look forward to it. πŸ¦† Every morning, I can see the maids or other care givers pushing the elderly in wheelchairs to the centre. There's a ramp specially built for them and the only inconvenience I encounter is to :siam:. Their windows are opened and the place is airy. The interior is in full view of the public. They conduct activities to keep the elderly entertained. The place looks very cosy and comfortable and I can see that the elderly enjoy themselves. I look forward to enjoying the facilities there one day. :drool: Definitely better than staring at the four walls at home with nobody to interact with.

I so agree ~ having such daily interactions with people and suitable activities also help to prevent depression, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, etc..

However, when you impose a condition, say, those who object will be barred from nursing homes located near them, you will perhaps be able to see genuine concerns. :roll:


Good suggestion. Just like first-timer HDB applicants who reject 2 chances to select a flat will have their first-timer priorities removed for a period of one year. :evil: .

The elderly in day care are definitely in good health, if not, they go nursing home already. Yet, not all elderly in nursing home are sick la. The only similarity is that the elderly are found there. I don't understand why people have such selfish mentality. There's a day care for the elderly at the void deck next to my block (in fact 2 blocks both serving the same centre). Nobody protested or even bothered when it was built. Why don't they petition against these facilities? In fact, the childcare centre is more noisy than the elderly care centre, you know. My neighbour has 3 young kids and the noise that they made every day can drive burglars away. πŸ˜‚ My ex-neighbours did complain against my children when they were small. When their grandchildren came along, they :oops: :oops: and claimed that it's normal; children will be children. :faint: Markets and hawker centers are not hygienic also lei. out of the 40 storeys, the first 10 are shopping mall, the next 10 are tuition centres like TLL etc, and make the top 20 storeys to become luxury condo priced cheaper than HDB ...... sure 200% welcome and queue overnite to buy


..... after 2 years of rental contract with tuition centre, take back the lease and convert to nursing home ..............
