There will not be a lot more in terms of endorsement $$, as their image doesn’t count for much.

The better soccer players in English Premier League earn about $1.2M per month. The best-paid soccer players in the world would earn as much as double that figure.

They are able to pay that kind of money as the large population there watches soccer as a passion, hobby, and do not mind paying $200 per ticket to watch a match. Plus the way those marketing people hype up the sports and the players, they become household names worldwide, and has image appeals and sponsorships/endorsements/broadcasting money keep rolling in.

Local sports cannot even smell them, much less try to compete.

But i’m also curious where does mediacorp get the $$ to pay the artists that much. Survival skills is one, the ability to climb ladders and make use of ties are others.[/quote]this news was out about 2 years ago only....

today Straits Times has news of Albert Yeung, the god-brother of Jackie Chan and a ruthless triad boss who had ordered the beating up of many celebrities...whoever crosses his path....one of those who was beaten up was eric tsang....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Movie sparked divorce
Published on Mar 26, 2012

Hong Kong - A randy producer's wife divorces him after attending a movie premiere with him and finding out that the film brings up his fling with an actress.

This is a true story shared by the male protagonist, entertainment billionaire Albert Yeung, 68, in an interview with Ming Pao Weekly published last Saturday.

He said he met the actress, whom he did not name, at a party in the 1970s and they had a tryst in a villa in Kowloon Tong. But his wife got wind of it and went there with her sister.

He said he managed to escape, and happened to meet a good friend, who agreed to be the scapegoat.

Yeung arrived home and acted drunk. To boost his case, he paid off a security guard to keep quiet and misled his domestic helper, who became his alibi.

His wife did not believe him but she had no evidence, and he seemed to have got away with it, he told the weekly. Still, she was so mad at him that she left for America.

It was then that he made the mistake of sharing the story with his friend, actor Philip Chan, for a laugh.

Months later, it became part of a movie, The Extras (1978), directed by Yim Ho and written by Chan. Kenneth Tsang played a character based on Yeung, and Idy Chan a character based on his wife.

Yeung said he did not know the movie would mention him, and took his wife to the premiere, after he persuaded her to return to Hong Kong.

She felt furious and humiliated by the movie, and later divorced him.

Yeung, who has since remarried, still has a girlfriend, he admitted to Ming Pao. But he has learnt to be more careful, he said.

Yeung, the boss of entertainers such as Nicholas Tse and Joey Yung, is publishing a biography this month.

During the interview, Yeung also addressed rumours that he paid off beauty queen Elaine Ng with HK$30 million, when the scandal of her affair with his close friend Jackie Chan broke in the 1990s.

Yeung said he had planned to buy Ng's silence, but Chan decided to admit to the public that he had made a mistake.

kiaaik

Reply to The cars that celebrities drive on Mon, 26 Mar 2012 14:13:44 GMT

jtoh:
Who's vong mei ling?

http://www.zhwsmj.cn/content.asp?id=1293

SAHM2KIDS

Reply to The cars that celebrities drive on Mon, 26 Mar 2012 09:01:27 GMT

kiaaik:

LOLMum:
then pray hard that none here are involved in such activities.

A stars like 杨千桦，liza wong, sammi cheng etc are a few examples. humble background, done well, 星味十足。

kept woman, sell favours, them, i doubt so.

but am surprised anita yuen was very frank in an interview that she was once a kept woman (林建岳）。

anita yuen is only tip of the iceberg....there are many of them like her...
she was able to keep it under wraps for so many years despite the famous gou zai dui of hk...

do you know lydia sum ordered the gang-raped of vong mei ling after vong had big mouthed about adam cheng (lydia's husband then) having sex with underaged girls...this led to vong's suicide...this was revealed by a prisoner (one of the rapists) on death row to a christian worker..
lydia's god-brother's alan tang (former movie producer and actor) is a high-ranking person in the 14K triad
when the news of adam cheng's 'adventures' leaked, alan tang had used his influence to stop the newspapers and magazines from reporting the matter...vong was staying in the same apartment/estate with them, and as she was innocent, she started to tell other people about it....and lydia wanted to teach her a lesson...

Goodness.
