<![CDATA[Child abduction at AMK Hub]]>Headline in yesterday's Xinmin paper:

Happened on Sunday around 1.15pm at basement of AMK Hub.
After feeding her son, a mother went to throw something into a rubbish bin. When she turned back, she saw a lady holding her son's hand and
walking away. Horrified, she stopped the lady and demanded to know what happened. The lady in China-accented Mandarin claimed 'mistaken
identity' and calmly walked away with a male companion. However her son told her that the jie jie offered to take him home.
The mother made a report at the reception and also to the police.
This incident was verified true and even MP Seng Han Thong advised parents to be vigilant and to take care of their kids. He was there with RC members, police and the management to discuss how to enhance
security at the Hub and to be on the lookout.

:yikes: I think the best way for mothers is to shout for help and get the
abductors arrested for questioning. As it is, the culprits are now free to set target on another unsuspecting child.... :nailbite:
So parents, please be on your guard at all times, imagine this attempted
abduction happened on a weekend and lunch time where there is a big crowd and the culprits just blatantly did it :nunchuk: :spank:

Case 1 : around 3 months back
Brought my 2 kids to AMK library, when i was reaching the entrance, I noticed a panic looking young girl around 5yr old walking very quickly out of the library and keep mumbling "mummy …mummy"

I am very worried ( as i mentioned earlier, already have several such encounters so a bit experience in spoting lost kids)… i quickly brushed my kids to look for their own reading materials while mummy go find mine ( i dont want to alert them as they will be very kepo ) then i quicky left them and try to help that little girl…

On the way, i keep asking ppl whether they got see a crying little girl, then i noticed 2 students stopped and staring at the direction towards "Jack’s place" i asked them whether they saw that little girl, they pointed to me the direction, l asked them to help me locate that girl, as we walked furhter n further away from the library, i asked a ice cream vendor, a few passer-bys, they all pointed to the direction of market!! ( almost 2 carpark away from library ) !!!

Finally, i saw a man standing beside her and saw her calling her mother ( my first reaction was, who is that man? crook? i quickly approached him n told him i m looking for the girl, and relieved to hear that he is calling her mother then, i answered the phone and informed the mother that her girl is lost ( i wonder has she noticed it yet …

while walking back to the library, the little girl was still crying, so to distract and cool her down , i chatted with her, praising her she was so clever tat she know mummy’s no. and telling her not to walk away from her parents if she cant find them the next time as it was very dangerous to cross the roads on her own…

I m feeling very relief to bring her back to her parents…

Also, most of the time I never get a \"Thank You\".
I guess , now to help those children who got separated from their parents is to alert the security first ... but there again, the poor security guard will be very \"boh eng\" !

Bring up what happen to my son in Changi Airport. The incident happened in 2010. Too far for me to remember the actual date, my family were in Changi Airport T3, There was a playground on the bus interchange level.


My two boys were playing at the playground while my DH, baby and I were at a corner watching from a distance. Suddenly saw a young guy came out of nowhere and carried up my younger boy at the playground. I was shocked. Then saw he quickly put my son down and walked away. I went up to my son and he told me that when that guy hold him up, he quickly pushed him away. 😓

Don't know whether this kind of body contact is it molest too? From far, I saw that the guy had grabbed my son very tightly to his own body. Think is a physco, very young as this guy was carrying a haversack on his back.

I was too shock at that time to do anything. Should had went up to that guy and ask him what he was doing.

Don't tell me the police will contact me on what I have written. But too bad is that I did not see his front view clearly, only back view and side view as his back is facing me. Only when he walked away, I saw his side view. :nailbite:

Call me high-strung but I don't let DD out of my sight. When we are out together, I always hold her hand. When I go to the loo, I bring her inside the cubicle. OT: And yes, I often get her staring and \"what's this\" questions ranging from the toilet facilities to.... If I should let her hand go for any reason like grocery shopping, I would tell her, \"stay next to me where I can see and hear you\".


When we are out and before I let her go anywhere with DH, I will beseech him with MY MOST serious eyes and say:\"Do not let her out of your sight at ANY time\". This is because unlike me, DH does not have the habit of holding DD's hand. He believes that she should \"roam freely and enjoy\". I'd often rebut and say:\"She's our only child, not a lion cub!\".

There ARE a lot of weirdoes out there, you can never be too careful.
At least your kid is good to listen to instructions.
