When we were considering whether to go ahead w e op, our gp did cautioned us that e constant rubbing of protruded part of e intestine against e testes might result in "overheating" n thus affects e sperm count. That’s 1 of e reasons y we decided not to drag further. Surgeon replied it should not be an issue at all and he can function as any other normal fit man.

I queried him whether it will affect his sexual reproduction organs. He replied it is generally safe with minimal risk of affecting his erection, sperm production and sperm count. He shared that there are rare cases of patients he saw with smaller testes. These patients have earlier hernia surgery when young (a few years old) and suffered relapse and needed a second surgery. They have smaller testes that affect their sexual reproduction ability and he is not sure whether this is due to the surgery that was not done well during the first time or it is due to the men originally have under-developed testes.

Sharing with you so that you can take note of the size of your child’s testes sizes as he grows and to take action to rectify where necessary (not mean to frighten you but better to take note cos damage can be irreversible if ‘repair’ cannot be done in time).

I have been trying to source around for more info. heard from a friend’s friend who went through the surgery several years back as an adult. Now he is happily married with two kids.

I still yet to decide on a surgeon. Intend to hear from one more before I make the final decision by year end. Tho risk is small, complications can be for a lifetime and so I will only get nothing but the best.
