My friend’s domestic help flew back to Indonesia because her sister gave birth to a baby boy.

My friend received a phone call from the family over there to ask if they have his permission to name the baby boy after him as a gesture of their gratitute to him.

I treated maid like family member, even bring her to restaurant to eat set meal costing $60++ each, bring her to church every Sunday, loan her money for her father's operation for heart problem, trusted her completely .... in the end, found out that she stole big time from us!!! So treating maid like family member will not guarantee that maid will be good or faithful to you. Though I do believe there are maid who will reciprocate, I am one of those who met with one who is ungrateful. So disappointed.

Even my boss will not take me out on a $60 ++ meal. This maid of yours should have stayed at least 10 years with you.

Just can't figure their way of thinking. we want to be nice but why can't they just reciprocate. They have nothing to lose and all to gain.

I heard so many similar stories. My mum's maid almost 10 years. Mine 4.5 years. I wonder if it'll be like that for us too when they go back. I was just discussing with my mum a month ago about what will happen to my maid when she grows old since she is not married. My mum's reply, \"you and your children take care of her lor if she work so long. Like family already\".

My friend and I both have our own domestic helpers for more than 10 years. I guess it is a 2-way thing. They are treated like family, with respect and concern.
