Both my children Is from Dayspring Kindergarden, (I am with them for 4 years)initially the feedback about this school is very good , the teachers are nice , responsible , loving etc … we are being told this was a academy base school and show us theirs work …They will paint very beautiful pictures on how good is this school…then eventually …

1)When my girl was in k1 , I was told by her teacher that she cannot read a single word and the teacher compare my girl with one of her classmate which the teacher herself is giving this child PAID private tuition .
When I consult the school, they said they allow their teachers to do so… as a parent I will unintentionally feel this teacher will pay more attention to THE extra paid student…

2 )The transport
A) Before I register to this school, I was told that they are willing pick up student from any part of Singapore. (Cos I will moving out of Seng Kang ) … but when change another location which is 3km away from my current pick up place, my transport fee is from $100 to $220 per month… again I question the school , they reply to me they will capped their transport fee to $180…ok I am fine with it …cos I dun to disturb my children to change school because of this issue but seen then every year they charge the bus fees more than $200 … then I have to call in every beginning of the year to ask them to adjust the amount eventually this year is 200 per month despite the increase in school fees …

B)Recently my child is sick for 2 days , on the first day , I msg the transport coordinator that my child is not going to school so dun have to pick her up, there no reply from her … subsequent day due to my busy schedule I forgot to msg her … the driver called me up and scolded me sarcastically … he speak in Chinese 昨天沒有来就不用讲了啦 … Then he just hang up the phone … I was really pissed off , I do not understand, I already paid for the fees. Regardless my child is boarding the bus he should go to the destination. I inform out of goodwill and this is what I received.

There are a lot of issue other then the ones I mention, I even heard from my child that , there was once they have not enough food for lunch … they offer the child with biscuits… Actually heard that a lot of good teachers left the school already but overall I am very disappointed with this school, luckily my kid is in K2 (last year) already. Hope my nightmare will over soon.

So mummy if u dun mind the fees and the things that I mentioned… I strongly encourage u to reconsider to take up this school…

Just felt like sharing my experiences with Dayspring as my daughter has been there since pre-nursery and she’s in K2 this year. We started off at 24th Ave and it was a pleasant little hideout albeit a little out of the way. She moved to the 17th Ave since nursery I think. Form teachers (1 English and 1 Chinese per class) change every year but they have been mostly warm (except for an English teacher who was a little lacking in that aspect) and caring.

Where curriculum is concerned, the school does well. At K1, my girl has both Chinese and English spelling every week. It was good practice and she took pride in mastering them. They were given weekly homework too and it could be easily completed within 10-15 minutes at home. The school has weekly swimming / water play for 1-2 terms in a year where there is no additional charge. The additional charges like racial harmony day celebration, etc were more like a token (a couple of dollars) IMO.

My girl enjoys school and looks forward to special activities. Of course, she does have her fair share of conflicts with certain classmates but that’s part of growing up and we try our best to help her manage such situations and also communicate with her teachers.

The Principal welcomes feedback and she is accessible. I’ve spoken to her on the phone to express my concerns (e.g. concert timing and rehearsals) over certain practices and also to clarify other things (e.g. learning hanyu pinyin as part of curriculum). She may not be the best PR person but I appreciated that she listens and tries to improve where possible.

At the end of the day, I know my girl will be well prepared for primary school. The school ensures that their charges know how to write, read and spell properly. The school provides opportunities for their charges to express themselves with confidence. I’m a working mom and feel pretty assured that my daughter’s preschool education is well taken care of.

IMHO, if you have other choices of school which is more accessible, just take it... It really doesnt matter sending them to 'branded' preschool or normal one since all the kids will be sent to enrichment too... Yes.. Even kids from branded school 😛
