Switzerland is a fantastic destination for a family trip, even with young children. The key is to plan well and focus on kid-friendly activities. https://uaesafari.ae/evening-desert-safari-dubai/ would be out of place in Switzerland, but you can find great deals on family-friendly tours and accommodations. I suggest exploring Lucerne, Zurich, and the Swiss Alps. Even though every meal cost min $100, not many places had that much cash lying around cos most ppl use credit card or debit card to pay. We went in 2012 but only stayed 2 nights (we were travelling from Paris to Rome by train in 3 weeks), and it was very foggy on our 1 full day, so we weren't able to go up into the mountains. It was in June - we didn't expect such fog. And there was a landslide on one of the railway lines during the night, and we were rerouted by other trains and a bus to get around the landslide. Luckily, we met a nice lady who was heading our way who could speak English - all the announcements were in German/French, and Italian when we got near the border with Italy. She guided us until she got off before Italy, but it was more straightforward from there. An interesting experience even though we got to Venice several hours later than planned.

sharonkhoo

Reply to Travel: Switzerland - General on Thu, 13 Oct 2022 11:18:24 GMT

starlight1968sg\" post_id=\"2085684\" time=\"1665658764\" user_id=\"14025:

zac's mum
If possible, appreciate to share your itinerary, pls.
Thank you.

I will try to recall…DH was the one who planned it, I just followed

NB: Check the weather using accuweather website (daily and hourly, in advance), plus any mountaintop live cam, before heading to any mountains. Before each F& E trip I will take about 3 months to gather information from Internet -Like Tripadvisor, the Country Official Website and also borrow many travel books from the local library.

Shuttling In Switzerland both local and tourist will use rail. I have the following queries :

1. Is it enought to budget about 3K per person for a 12 days tour to Switzerland and Vienna?
2. I understand that the swiss rail is very efficient and cover to most alps. May I know is there different pass for different states like Lucern, Intralaken?
3. To get to the railway station from the hotel, do you travel by bus or have to rent a car?
Is the bus system as efficient as the rail system?

Thanks!!
