<![CDATA[Blood Pressure Monitor]]>Hi,


I bought an Osim brand blood pressure monitor for my parents but after using for a while, it starts getting less accurate in its measurement.

Do you have the same experience with blood pressure monitors? I heard from a few relatives that they experience the same thing with their monitor but don’t know which brand they are using.

NTUC Unity carries the Omron brand of blood pressure monitor but I am not sure if it will also gradually become less accurate. I search their mother company website and they stated that their monitor is clinically tested wheareas I can’t find the same statement from the Osim website.

How did you find out that it is not longer accurate?

I have a few BP monitors, wrist type and cuff type both at home and at my parents' place. I'm not sure how accurate they r but I use them mainly for indicative purpose.

Was told that the most accurate is still the old school mercury type.

Can you actually calibrate these devices? Or u just compare its reading vs the GP's and confirm they r within range?
The reading taken for the first and second time (immediate taking) can differ greatly. That is how we discover it is getting less accurate.

Hi. GP asked me bring my bp device to calibrate with their, I just follow the word used without much thots. :oops:
You r right, only compare & confirm readings are within range, nothing else done.

So far seems ok. Have brought to my GP a few times to calibrate, so far no issue.
