We are living at Braddell area, and our kid studies at Northshore Primary School (P2). We have problem to send/pick up him to/from school daily since it is too far away.

School starts at 7.30 am
Dismissal is 1.30 pm

We are looking for parents who are living in Braddell/Bishan/Toa Payoh and having kids studying at Punggol/Sengkang area so that we could connect to help each other about school transportation.

May I ask why is this PGPS so popular? I just live within 500m away from this school and it will take me about 10 mins walk only. I want to enrol my child to this school when my child enters P1 but I understand it’s a heavily balloted school due to its popularity & I also don’t know why it is so popular? As ChiefKiasu said, it's a combination of location and feedback... although location is really the main factor.

West of PGPS, i.e. in the Sumang / Matilda area, there are at least 30 blocks of flats in Sumang / Matilda with NO real alternative option within 1km, i.e. until Valour was completed in 2019. If you are living in that area, the only options within 1 km are Springdale or Compassvale. However, that would necessitate crossing the great divide known as TPE every day. If you are not driving / using school bus, you will need to change bus at least once to get to either school - kinda stupid for a school that's supposedly less than 1km.

Therefore, other solution if you are looking for a easy to get to school within 1km? Just apply to PGPS and hope for the best.

It's probably a combination of location and good feedback. Punggol Green started in 2012 and it took them only 3 years before it required those that stayed <1km away to ballot! It has been requiring balloting in Phase 2C for <1km since 2015.

Interestingly, their Phase 1 intake has been falling from a peak of 142 in 2020 to 118 last year. But its phase 2A2 has been growing to 96 in 2021 and it has required balloting in 2A2 last year. The number of places it offers vary almost every year from as low as 210 when it got started in 2012 to 320 in 2018 (Dragon kids).

I believe this year enrollment will have ballot again. My children are not in the student care. Not very sure however heard not very good. There has been open house for the past few years. You may check again during the open house. So far, no bullies are being heard.

I am intending to enrol my child to PGPS next year and really hope to get a place.
Anyone here places their child in the student care service? Would like to find out the quality of it, and how are P1 kids adjusting to student care. Any instances of bullying, etc? Are the children being properly looked after, or mostly left to their own devices? What about nap times? Do kids in student care generally perform alright?

I will register my daughter for p1 2018 this wed, 26.07.17 at PGPS.
I just wonder, is there any difference if we do online registration on 25.07.17 and come down to school on 26.07.17? If i register on 26.07.17 does it makes me chances getting the school is low coz 25th some parents do online.

No difference between online and offline registration.
The data / info is consolidated back end. Therefore, chances same-same.

My child is in p1 this year. He enjoys school. Teachers are nice. They will constantly update parents on their work. If u don’t have no access to internet. They update u on what they learn during parent child conference meeting with the teacher.

Don worry I m sure he won't. It's just more troublesome to send him to school further from your home. You have no idea how many times I cursed each time I have to walk with my kid from the mrt to punggol green :rant:
