It’s white or black.<br /><br /><br />When people ask how long it takes to get a black belt they’re looking at it the wrong way. The longer it takes to get a black belt,  the more meaningful it is and the more useful the martial art.<br /><br />Ask any experienced martial artists around and they’ll say judo, wrestling and bjj are the best martial arts you can do for grappling, then Muay Thai, kickboxing or boxing for striking.</p>

We used to go for grading often but have chosen not to any more since dec2017. Now blue belt. <br /><br />Full belt upgrade every year would seem  reasonable. ie white to brown in 5-6yrs. <br /><br />Do note that once kid reaches 13, they will be downgraded to an adult level belt, probably yellow. Compared to his immediate precedent taekwondo and precedent karate, judo requires him to grapple the concept of pivoting,  leverage, etc.</p>

If you are ok with that, then you should go ahead. SA Judo School is definitely the best!
