<![CDATA[public toilet seats... do you let your kids sit on them ?]]>hi I just want to check with mommies here if you let your kids sit on public toilet seats ? I remember having to wipe the seat clean first, then put dettol sanitizer and wipe it again before allowing my son to do his business. Now that heโ€™s older, I dont go toilet with him anymore and I donโ€™t expect him to clean the seat by himself.


Mommies, do you have any advice for this, especially those with girls since they have to sit whichever "activity" they doโ€ฆ

Just to share a recent incident, my 6YO girl went into a squatting toilet because nobody wants to go in. She slipped and 1 foot into the bowl!!! Lucky that she hasn't done her small business, she came running to helper!!! The floor is wet and slippery which caused the slip which I had warned her many times.
So far, DD has not gone into a squat toilet without me helping her. She'll cling on to one of my legs to balance herself. On this, I've once helped my DS at a squat toilet while he was doing the big one. I actually lost my balance and hit my head on the wall behind, and for a sec, couldn't remember where I was. ๐Ÿ˜“ That WAS SCARY.

When my DD was little, I would carry her over the toilet bowl. When she was too heavy for me to carry anymore, like many of you, I placed layers and layers of toilet paper. Then I taught her the hovering method when she was tall enough.

By the way, do you all notice how many people do not wash their hands with soap after using the toilets? Including the retail and restaurant staffโ€ฆthen they serve us after thatโ€ฆ

My girl tend to inform in advance & can 'ren' for awhile.

My hub says that the boys toilet is worse. ๐Ÿ˜ž Pee all over ... on the seat cover even. He did say that not all know that it is only polite to lift the cover before peeing (for sit toilets) and this is also why he will tahan until he reaches home to use the toilet for big business.


This is what I usually ask DS to do if the toilet cant be trusted. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What I mean is, you only need the person who wishes to sit to put the seat down and lift it back up when done. Otherwise, men do not really need the seat cover to be down when they pee in the cubicles.

If the seat cover is down and they peed (accidentally on it) the next person will not want to touch the cover liao. And whoever comes in after will just pee over the cover, sometimes making the cubicle dirtier.

It was sold in Singapore a couple of yrs back, now Iโ€™m not sure.

Press a button, a fresh coat will replace the old one (i.e. move from one end to the other end). so, no need layer of paper, hover, or squat.

Hover means \"suspended in midair\"... ie. the position you would be in when you are prevented from completing the act of resting your bum on the surface of the toilet seat.

Unlike helicopters which hover based on Newton's 3rd law of motion, human hovering over toilets are powered by the yucky thoughts of having your bum in contact with any surface that might have had recent encounters with other bums.

Hopefully this helps explain the science behind the process.
