No matter what the poor child did, under no circumstance should a child be treated like this, by anyone!

Even if it was used on a 12 year old, it is unforgivable, not to mention on a 5 yo !!!! :stompfeet:

2nd case, the teacher might be a bit rash, but I won't call it physical abuse. The kid was given prior warning already. I would say the kid deserves it. And the way the mum blown the case out of proportion just turned herself from victim to villian, especially the emphasizing of the $60 hair cut and the police report! (I am a working adult and I haven't even had such an expensive hair cut ever! :razz: )

Ok my take is as follows:
Case 1:
No idea what the 5 year old did wrong to warrant such a response from the teacher. It was not clear and besides, 5 year old needed a lot of guidance unlike the 12 year old boy, so more patience should be exercised. Hence, in this case the teacher sounded mental for her behaviour in treating the 5 year old this way. Shaming the child with nakedness, flinging the child against the white board makes the teacher sounds like a potential candidate on her way to IMH. As a stranger, I can see body wounds from the throw against the board and we do not know what else is broken inside. If the child is really a problem, all it takes is to ask for some help to take the child aside.

Case 2:
The child had clearly violated school rules and the child ran the risk of not being to take his PSLE oral exams due to his hair condition. Here the teacher had already given warning letters and they were not heeded due to irresponsible behaviour of the child for not informing his parents. In desperate measures, instead of risking PSLE, the teacher risked herself as a teacher and took action to discipline. If it is seen as putting the child down, it is not at the same level as shaming with nakedness and flinging against the whiteboard. Hair can grow back and even crew cut or total baldness is an acceptable look for schools anyway. I have seen completely botak boys in schools. As a stranger, I would not guess they have been punished.
