More than 26,000 in-service Education Officers (EOs) and about 500 Allied Educators (AEDs) in several grades will receive a salary adjustment with effect from 1 September 2012. The adjustments will ensure that the salaries of our EOs and AEDs keep pace with the market and commensurate with their roles and responsibilities.

2. Teachers play an important role in preparing our children for the challenges of the 21st Century, which have become more demanding and complex. They also play a key role in equipping our children with core values, social and emotional competencies and cross-cultural skills that are critical for character and citizenship development.

3. Integral to the school team are the AEDs who support our teachers in teaching and learning, and in managing the counselling and special education needs of our children in schools.

4. The Ministry of Education is committed to attracting, developing and retaining a quality school team.

5. The serving EOs in various General Education Officer (GEO) and Senior Education Officer (SEO) grades will receive an 8% salary adjustment. GEOs and SEOs can expect an increase of up to $550 and $830 respectively to their gross monthly salaries.

6. The AEDs in various grades will receive salary adjustments ranging from 5% to 15%. Allied Educators can look forward to an increase of up to $700 in their monthly salaries.

7. Eligible officers will receive the salary adjustments from the September 2012 payroll onwards.

Read the http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2012/08/salary-adjustments-for-educati.php
http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2012/08/salary-adjustments-for-educati.php

Wow, I really wasn't aware that senior teachers are drawing as much as $10k a month. No wonder MOE teachers can charge so high for private tuition, especially one-on-one. Assuming 20 working days a month, a senior teacher would earn $500 a day. Giving 8hrs of work per day, they are paid about $62.50. So here we have a base rate of $62.50/hr for experienced teachers. And this rate does not include travelling time and cost.

-Justin

Reply to MOE's salary adjustments for Teachers on Sat, 06 Oct 2012 02:57:15 GMT

If parents are unhappy with the extra, take their kids out…don’t be selfish and deprive those really in need.

Many become Bo-chap when their good work or dedication backfire on them. A good example would be the teacher who cut her student's hair for psle oral. I'm sure she had done what she had deemed appropriate for the child, in his best interest, but look what kind of trouble it got her? And it's worse in that it's the appraisal period now. I'm quite sure she would have got a bad grade for her appraisal.
