She told me that she sat for a test from MOE yesterday. According to her, they were given 1/2 hour to complete the test and some of the questions are very difficult. One of the questions require her to identify the piece of the missing puzzle. When she told me that I immediately associate it with the game on FB - Who has the biggest brain?<br /><br />Does anyone know what this test is all about? They are trying to gauge the overall standard of the pupils. From my understanding, different levels are tested randomly in different years. One of my students told me that it was a surprise test so that the pupils would not be able to prepare for it. In fact, my student told me that most of her friends decided to purposely do badly in the test cos they thought that if they did well, MOE would raise the standard. I believe it is for MOE to monitor the academic level of Pr1 students so as to aid their planning. My DD and DS also went through this test (P1). DS was able to complete it and DD said she could not do the E section.<br /><br /><br />Glad to hear that this is some research that MOE was doing. Results will not be released to parents, not even to form teachers. MOE will only release the names of students who needs the extra coaching. <br /><br />That means all pri 1 kid should have been tested, guess different schools may have different timings.</p>

I was told he was the only one from his class &amp; the qs were difficult, most of them were not even taught before for P1, such as fractions.  He was asked to do the test a 2nd time, i think probably to complete the qs that he did not do &amp; this time the \"teacher\" explained the qs.<br /><br /><br />He was quite upset about it cos he had the impression that it was an extra test/lesson as he was the only went. He said v. simple test on patterns. I asked his teacher today and she said MOE is conducting some research (dunno on what)  and the school will not be informed of the test results. She said the results will not affect the kids in anyway so the sch did not inform the parents beforehand.</p>

In his class, not all was asked to sit for the test. <br /><br />He can’t exactly remember how many questions exactly but he told me around 10 - 11 (non-MCQ). <br /><br />I was thinking it was a UNSW paper but upon checking the UNSW site, it will only be held tomorrow. <br /><br />So, quite puzzled what paper was for.</p>
