is it possible to bring a Indon maid along to Australia for a vacation? Whatโ€™s the paperwork like?

We will usually need a minimum of 2 MPVs. The last trip to Australia we had a convoy of 3 Estimas. For so many people on a trip you need enough drivers to rotate. As for luggage, we pack light as we do our laundry along the way. Even on a 2 weeks trip, DH and myself can share 1 luggage. DS and DD 1 luggage with space to spare and maid 1 cabin luggage. That is our winter packing. If summer, even lighter. We use a lot of packing sacks to save space.

My inlaws did that too. They got Chan brothers to organise a tour last year and formed their own tour group to go visit my FIL's ancestral home in China. We could not joined them as we already planned to go NZ. (lucky cos I don't like China kampong very much :evil: )
I once met a family of 7 during our self drive in Hokkaido. They fitted into an Estima. They used soft luggage, but still I don't know how they can have enough clothes and stuff for the 10 days. I very \"peifu\"

u r a good employer too.... even when my whole extended family was travelling, i told her to stay in another friend's plc.

Got ulterior motive one mah. Cos I don't fancy having to wake up to prepare breakfast or end the day doing laundry.

She will be over the moon if I give her a paid vacation home, which I prefer not to. I don't fancy putting her at the agent and having to pay lodging and if anything happens during that period, I will still be liable. And I tend not to want to impose on my friends especially if they too have helpers of their own. Don't want them to pick up or pass on weird habits or start to compare. So best alternative will be to drag her along.

See, not all that altruistic. :razz:[/quote]true but still, u brought her along.. for us, we nv consider that as we usually bring laundry back and breakfast is to eat out.. most impt is during holidays, we splurge on luxury food and i really dun think my maid has to eat with us... like spoiling her... asking her to eat other food in another plc is not my style too... so my dh also agrees just dun bring her...

my friend has a spare room for her part time helper to stay only during weekends.. if my maid is there, she probably stop the helper for a week or 2.. of cos i wun impose my friend if she not convenient or unwilling..

there isnt many chances that we will travel wih extended family.. the only once was with both side parents and only that once... u might also have guessed what happened...

Not sure if they allow online applications now. But when I applied for my helper in 2009, I used form 48R.
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/48r.pdf

You will need to supply the standard passport, work permit, itinerary, booking confirmations and a letter stipulating the reason for having your domestic help travel with you.

1 trip to apply, and another trip to collect.
