In fact from day 2 on, he asked us not to pick him so early because he wants to play with his friends.
- my son says their tea break is nice (esp the bread + strawberry jam)

not so good:
- my boy says the place they sleep at is v tight. his friends hand may hit him when he is sleeping halfway. I have requested them to give my son a little more space if possible.
- no place for them to shower, only wipe body
- They will ensure work is done (filled up), they are not responsible if its correct or not
- If you are picking them up during peak hour (5pm to 6pm) they may take more time to bring the kid out because i think their volume is quite huge.

Overall i would think that its quite good for now. better than him going home and watch Ipad etc.

Let me share with you my son’s first week of school…

Last week was the first week of sch. For the first 2 days, we are allowed to go to the classroom area to “view” the kids in action from 730am to 8am. After which, the sch organised talks from 8am to 12pm (they let u off during the recess time to see your kids). The topics of the talks include:
- Technology & kids: how much screen time do they need? When is the right age to give them a mobile phone?
- maths, English, Mother tongue HODs: each has their own slot. To tell us what to expect when there is no exams now. How are they grading the students, what can we expect? What is PAL program, stella program…
- healthy eating & exercise
- parent support group

So after 12pm, I also got to see how my Son do the transition to after school care (part of it)…more of the lunch… also got to peek at what food they offer to the kids…

I thought they are rather thoughtful to hold the talks and to get the various HODs to come in and give the speech. It allows the parents to ask all sorts of questions. I don’t think any of my other friend’s sch did that… I remember one of the questions is to compare what’s the difference in oral exams between now and during “our times”. N yes, seems that many things have changed. Ha

The sch has also briefed the p4 buddies well. Almost all the parents feel that their buddies are knowledgeable and know what they need to do. I felt the same too. After food (recess) they initiated to bring the kids ard - bookshop, library, etc. The Teachers also confirmed that they even gave the buddies a checklist of what they should do to take care of the P1s.

During orientation, they also gave a list of books to bring for the first 4 days. The teacher kept most of the books and the child will be given a locker each. Hopefully they will not have heavy bags…

My Son settled in quite quickly (to my surprise)… he is already asking us to fetch him at 6pm on the third day (after the after sch care because he wants to play with his friends) - thank god.

Spelling will start after Feb CNY… their focus now is to settle the kids before the real work comes along…

Oh ya… one thing to note is the PE attire. He got 3 days of PE & 1 day of PAL (requires physical activity - and hence PE attire)… which means he only get to wear uniform for 1 day of the week and PE for the next 4 days. I didn’t expect that and I guess I need to top up my PE attires and my uniforms really go to waste. I bought 3 sets of uniforms!! Unsure how fast he will out grow them. The timetable is by semester, so hopefully he may be able to wear more of his uniforms soon.
