How is the teacher in OEP?
not sure kids will facing stress for their homework load or high expectation?

most important for me is the teacher are good and student their hv good behavior...

My boys are from OEPS. P2 this year. Whether the teacher are they good or bad, seriously, we can't set too high expectation on them. Cos they are handling approx 30-40 students in 1 class. Is quite tough. Can you imagine..assume, the teacher given 1 hours to conduct the lesson say for English, but 30 mins wasted on 'pulling', 'telling' the active, talkative kids to go back to their seats and stop talking and etc. My boy is 1 of them..sad to say.. he had difficulties in concentrating cos he told me other kids are disturbing him and vice versa.
Also, the teacher got to manage some really problematic child too who just cannot take in instruction. E.g, child with mild ADHD, autism for example, will be tough for the teacher to handle during lesson.

So i had to educate my boys to show high respect to the Teachers, obey, listen and ask if don't understand either during or after lesson. Most important....KEEP QUIET during the lesson and don't tired the Teachers. LOL.

As for the school work...sigh...recent feedback from his Math teacher's...some students personally left their homework book in their school locker. So when they go back, they will tell their parents/ caregiver - NO HOMEWORK TODAY.
And some even more daring..tear away the pages number at the below right hand corner thou Teacher had circled the number page for them to do..all sorts of funny stuffs done by the Kids. I just find it amused...LOL..So i make it a point to email, SMS and even whatsapp the teacher to check on my Son homework when i find something is ' fishy'.. All the kids learned from 1 another..( sigh )
But to be frank...the homework is much much easier if compare with Temasek Primary. Cos OEPS is really a very holistic school. Less stress i would say.

So for students to have good behaviour, seriously...impossible!! Everyone comes from different background. Upbringing is different. Some kids are helpful, kind, considerance, thoughtful but some kids are opposite and even some are bully.
We just have to teach our kids to respect 1 another. My kid met 1 bully in the school. This boy in another class, started to get violent. Really violent.. Punch, kick, hit other kids and cause some injury..My boy is 1 of them been bullied by him. Believe most of the parents 1st reaction will be complaint to the school. I am 1 of them after my boys been injured by this boy for many times until the last resort i called up and went to the school cos he had kicked my boys ' private ' part which i feel is just too much! But after finding the real truth, i then realise where this boy came from. His parents were not with him. Either in Jail or ran away and he was most of the time at home. Soclal workers from the govt sector is helping him. I pity him. I feel sorry for him and i told my boy how blessed he is to have a proper family. So i didn't want to persuade further but i teach my boys to learn to protect himself instead and avoid body contact with him as far as possible. And should he be violent, first thing to run to the office to seek help. But never never to hit others.

Therefore, Teacher to be good, Student behaviour to be good...is really hard. I can only say..in my humble opinion...be gracious and take things easy. Just solve whatever problems along the way. Primary school life is really FUN!!

snoopy1975

Reply to Opera Estate Primary on Wed, 04 Jun 2014 09:58:09 GMT

aleela:
Dear Parents,

My girl next year will be P1, im thinking enroll her to Temasek or Operate estate, main reanson is have student care nearby.
