Hi, I'm new here... Saw a few post on the bullying n culture of the school(SSS), Im actually planning to put my son to this school as its near to our place.. But after seeing these posts... I'm getting worried... Can any parents whose child are in the school advise if these are true..? How is the Psle results this year 2019? Anybody knows? Isit true that the school place more emphasis on the brighter kids n leave the rest at lurch? Haha...

Hi, I am also considering St Stephen’s but received a number of negative comments, mainly a v lax school culture, lack of academic rigour and bullying.

I am not looking for a school that over pushes the students but I think basics should be there so I can free the afterschool hours to develop my child in sports and other areas of interest instead of going for tuition. The big draw is it’s affiliation. But even people who are ‘ affiliated ‘ to the schools are advising against the school.

Does anyone have experience in the school? Does the school prepare the students well for PSLE? Are the pedagogies varied and updated? Lastly, how bad is the bullying? Is the school discipline good?

Given that she uses DS1, I’m assuming her next is also a boy.

Quite frankly, “fighting” or aggressiveness is often exaggerated. My kids fight all the time, but none of them wants to kill each other yet. It’s what siblings do. They fight. They make up. They fight again.

St Stephen is a better choice overall. It’s afflicted to SJI (high COP) and SPS (low COP). No matter how he perform in future, he got all the bases covered.

In the usual naming convention, the number denotes the birth order, regardless of gender. So could be DS1, DD2, DS3...actually only 3 kids in total.

And maybe u haven’t observed two boys/brothers fighting before. Can fight until serious injuries. It usually continues on unchecked in boys schools. Really not good for them when they enter society in future.

If such boys enter co-ed schools, usually after a while either the girls in the school will start speaking out, or the teachers will start reprimanding the boys to be more gentle when interacting with the girls.

But I concur with the affiliation advantage of St Stephens.

If your younger child is a girl, you should enrol the DS1 into TKPS (co-ed) so that your girl can get in immediately without fuss in future (phase 1).

If your younger child is a boy, I still suggest you enrol the DS1 into TKPS so that he learns to tone down his “fighting” nature. In any all-boys school, I observe that those naturally-aggressive boys only get more aggressive over time.
