I am in search of a reasonable price yet good tuition centre in Jurong East area.
My sons will be in Primary 4 and Primary 6 in Year 2020 and needs tuition for Maths.

I read online Mavis Tutorial Centre seems to offer reasonable rate. Any one can share his/her experience for Jurong East branch for Maths?

My child too struggles with compo writing. After trying several group tuitions over the years (I wont name names but some centres offers little or no advantage than what you can get from buying a few resources from Popular), I find that one to one attention suited my child best and helped him jump over 10 marks. Expand your child's compo treasury (add on to what given by school - from books at Popular and online resources) and get him or her to practise and practise and practise.

Personally, I've learned to look at quality passes (AA*) of Tuition centres and compare them to quantity of students they admit. You'll be surprised that the percentage can be low. Many and popular doesnt equate to quality. My advise is to try for trial classes. All the best.

Holidays break is not a break and need to attend class in December, otherwise you will be penalise to re-register again for the following year and pay for the registration fees.


Material given in class is just going through and expect our kid to go back and do it themselves and bring back for marking.
Overall, the tuition fees matches the quality.

I have faced similar challenges finding tutor for my son. It was time consuming and frustrating with very limited options to choose from and that too without any real testimony that tutor I’m getting from tuition agency or teacher in “so called branded” tuition centers.
I feel, not just me most of the parent goes through this and definitely there’s a problem worth fixing. So I’m working on a project to find solution help parents. But I need help from parents to understand all the pain, problem and what they exactly look for. All the parents wants to help their kids to learn, but it private tutors or fancy tuitions centers are the only options?
I’m not selling anything here, its not a pitch, it’s a call to seek help from fellow parents. If we get the problem then only we’d be able to find a solution for it that would help the whole parent community and their kids.
So I urge parents to share their experiences. Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to share on the thread.

Teacher then does some vocab and end of class. Worksheet return students the next week. Lousy, really bad administration too. not for those who needs interaction with teacher. DS ask to quit after 1st lesson.

DD was happy with it. I also send my 2nd DD to their Creative Writing but have decided to withdraw her out as I do not really agree to their teaching method... only heard from DD that they are copying sample compo.. which i think I would prefer my DD to expose to write compo on her own based on the given topic but none of that for the past 3 lessons....


Would like to hear from other parents too on their experience at Seletar mall mavis 😄
