The school’s performance is below the national average. Usually, around 65% of students or so will make it to G3. In this year’s cohort, only 50% made it to G3. Very disappointing. If your child is not placed in Joy (name of the top class), be mentally prepared that your child will not be given the opportunity to study more challenging materials. Opportunities to represent the school for olympiads are given only to Joy students. only 15 students from Joy scored AL10 points and below, out of the entire cohort of 200 students. Keep in mind that her post was made in 2019. Four years later and nothing has changed. My upper primary child told me "everyone uses the F-word, ma, even the girls. So stop freaking out okay, it’s normal here".


Also not unusual for kids to not do homework, skip remedial classes, or go to other kids’ homes to play instead of studying. Some come from very complicated families. Once my kid had to listen to a classmate’s story about domestic violence, and how his dad beats his mom. Also heard that teachers will feedback to some parents they need to play a more active role in supporting their children’s education at home, but parents simply brushed it off as having no time to care.

Weekly spelling test - the 听写 pinyin is wrong and my kid still got graded as correct. Heard from my kids that everyone at school is fearful of Mr Roy (discipline master) but some other teachers are pushovers and cannot control the class well.

Many new BTOs coming up in the area so new students likely from around the area.

If you want a school that focuses more on academics, go to Northland or Chongfu. But even for those schools, there is no guarantee your kid will score well and go onto the express stream in Chung Cheng. Schools will talent-spot students who can study and groom them to bring straight As to the school. Those who cannot study… the schools just "set them aside", can pass can already.

Yes i agree. But its so hard to do when you have no child or relative's/friend's child in school already 😞 . So so far i have no luck finding out about the acedemic performance of the school

Sorry no, my son will start p1 in 2020 and this is one of the schools within my neighbourhood. Hence was inquiring about it prior to the p1 registration excersise starts.
Would you know how the school fair in academics?

I have a son diagnosed with mild autism and have been recommended to go to mainstream schools instead of special needs. Was really hoping for Northland coz I did plenty of asking for that and it seemed to be the best fit… But unsuccessful balloting =(

More students are doing better in PSLE last year than Northland Primary. It used to be Chongfu the top school in Yishun and Northland the 2nd best. My friend shared with me that Northview Primary is faring better than Northland Primary. There could be a possibility of balloting for North View Primary for 2015 Registration for P1 (2016) for SC within 1km in Phase 2C.
