They focus on reading and Chinese learning. All the teacher and tutors have strong background. My girl loves the centre very much and I have to say it is a good choice for the kids to learn Chinese and devolop reading habit. And surely the little book lovers like my girl will love their well-stocked library 😄

Can someone provide advice on the school’s environment? In a general sense as to how your kids feel being in the school; are they happy? As well as how comfortable you guys are with your kids in there. hoping to get some feedback before 16Aug when Phase 2CS ends! 😃

I have a son diagnosed with mild autism and have been recommended to go to mainstream schools instead of special needs. Was really hoping for Northland coz I did plenty of asking for that and it seemed to be the best fit… But unsuccessful balloting =(

So curious because her english and maths teachers are different, not like p1 p2. Not too sure maybe they have not got a English teacher yet because she did not have any english lesson so many days already. anyone else face the same problem? Maybe teacher was sick and my girl didn't pay attention. When i asked her she just said not sure. Not so sure if it is convenient to say which class she is in.

i also feel to get same teacher for at least p1 and p2 is good b'cos they see the same 'mummy' in school.
i cannot say i am happy with the p2 teacher now. compared to her teacher last year, was A*. Now...
I try to be understanding. After all, she is a qualified teacher, maybe the P1 teacher standard was very high. This one cannot meet 😞
I just do my best to help at home and we do more assessments because in school is too slow already.
Maybe also depend on the class. I dont know.
I will talk to the form teacher coming 29 and see if she can adapt abit for my kid.

A quick update for those shortlisting YPS for registration this year, YPS DO conduct "Meet-the-Parents" sessionS now! Hahaha… in fact, i think this school is doing well with so many outside curriculum activities offered for parents to bond with their child, etc.

Two weeks back, i attended a Math workshop YPS organised with someone rather senior (from MOE, i think… can’t quite remember but he is a ‘Dr’ and specialises in Math) - it was certainly a very engaging and interesting workshop!

They had a Meet-the-Parents session at the beginning of the year (few weeks after school to give feedback on how the child is settling) and another one come up end of May to give another round of feedback.

My son is blessed - he has the same Form teacher from P1 to P2. The Form teacher is always very pro-active in keeping me infomed (via SMS) on my child (e.g. if he had a fall, unwell, etc). Of course, not every teacher keeps in touch via SMS; the Chinese language teacher this year did not.

I was initially rather worried when i gave up the balloting at CF and got him a place in YPS. I am glad i made that decision now.

"Yishun" sounds very neighbourhood, i know. But getting into a well-known school (with no affliation type - this is another story) is not all that it takes to get good grades, i think?

DS goes to a student care where CF students go to as well; the teacher that was revising Chinese with DS feedback to me (as i went to pick him) DS managed to grasp it quickly though Chinese is not his strongest subject. As i was waiting for DS to put on his shoes, i overheard the teacher telling the daddy of a CF girl that she simply cannot grasp the Chinese lesson she was going through that day… i was momentarily ‘shocked’ - 1)she is a girl, i thought she’d have better concentration than my DS! 2)more importantly, she is from CF!

I am proud to say my son studies at YPS now (i used to find it abit embarrased) but don’t care if people says ‘oh…’ now. I am rather confidient my child will do well even if his starting point is just a ‘normal neighbourhood school’.

My DS is from YPS too.

On CCA switch, you would have to write in to the CCA's \"Form\" teacher (you can check out who is the main teacher-in-charge on each particular CCA from website).

You will need to write to both the current CCA Form teacher and the new preferred CCA Form teacher to state your reasons for the switch.
This would be reviewed by the Head of CCA, i believe.

They will then get back to you to advise if the request for switch is successful.

I also agree with busy mum, the teachers staying in school so many days a week.
I see staying back for all this CCA, remedial and then I think sure have meetings all that, is not good. I want the teacher to be more focus on teaching. My niece is teaching now , she told me how terrible it is.
I really take my hats off to them.

In fact i think i am the stressed out mummy already.
Elder one has cca 2 times a week. So tiring!
My neighbour was telling me about her kids have remedial plus cca, 4 times a week already!
Actually very poor thing.
The teachers even worse i think. I wonder... teachers do all these things stay in school everyday so long hours how can they be not tired when they teach the kids? Like ever since last year there is so much of things going on.

Back to school so how is it been? For me disappointed cuz again my child’s form teacher is not taking her in P2. It is another female teacher. First child also got a different teacher P2. So sad but I hope for the best. Her teacher is back in P1 the same class. Hmmm I thought they will follow up but no.
