My son is starting in 2019 and we are racking our heads over schools. Closest schools to us (<1km) are Pasir Ris Pri and White Sands. Honestly either one will do - we just don’t want to go any further for school! But with the primary school mergers in 2019, I’m not sure what parents will do so past balloting history is not so useful. Any ideas how parents will react with the 2 less schools in Pasir Ris? Apply for PV but kena rejected so will have to go under 2C.

Also as a second option, any views on Casuarina (merging with Loyang)?

Both of them commented that they love the school very much. The younger one has very good results of close to perfect score for P1 and P2 (without any tuitions) whereas the older one scoring much poorer at 65 +/- (with tuitions), that is the average of the cohort, I am expecting a PSLE score of around 220 only with Chinese being the worst performing subject.


I did volunteer work to get my older one into Pasir Ris Primary many years ago even though I stayed within 1km. My friend who stayed within 1 km but did not participate in volunteer work got into the school through balloting.

In terms of character, both my daughter has good manner, respect their parents, not selfish, not self-centered and have a kind heart, during which they have their fair share of mischievous time (which kids don’t?) but are quickly back on track. I guess this is partly due to the school culture that constantly remind them of good behavior.

I heard the PSLE last year (2016) top scorer in Pasir Ris Primary School has an aggregate score of 286. Hence, it very much boils down to the child himself and parent’s effort in coaching the child.

P1 and P2 has not much homework and the exam papers are quite easy. All the best to those who applied!

my son will be P1 next year (2017) and as usual parents at this time will be headache trying to choose a schools. I have been asking around and because i am staying within 1km from LYPS,Casuarina, PRPS, WSPS everyone is telling me how good is PRPS and WSPS. But i think i have made my decision to send my son to LYPS as i have been to the school and i love the kampung spirit! School is very very clean. The cleaner whom was a 81 years old uncle greeted me with a warm smile and say he is happy working there. So as the security guards and GO staffs. i personally think that value is also important not just about academic. I am quite sure i will make the right decision. Anyone joining me?

May I check if the response on the PV scheme in Pasir Ris Pri is so overwhelming these few years? I called to check and the lady (over the phone) told me that I should apply another school PV too as too many applications these recent years. I was so :yikes: . I didn't expect that. So my choices for my little one (she is SC, K1 this year) are:


1. Pasir Ris Pri - within 1 km (aim for phase 2B, need to ballot?)
2. White Sand Pri - within 1-2 km (if phase 2B, may need to ballot also?)
3. Elias Park Pri - last option

I am quite worry now.... So should I apply for white sand Pri PV too? Will the registration of P1 be secure in White Sand Pri? If we got rejected by White Sand Pri PV too, the worst situation can be like - we either have to register our kid for Pasir Ris Pri or White Sand Pri in phase 2C. Just check the balloting history, we will fall into the balloting category that is so so competitive..... :sad:
