Well as the nick shows, I have got 3 great kids, aged 5, 3 and 7 months. Was introduced to this forum by my colleague when we started talking about P1 registration.

Initially was quite stressed out by him as I realised I was too late for any PV scheme (checked with rosyth in 2007 then realised it's still too early but when preggie in 2008 forgot all about it so missed that boat :()

Anyway, through reading the forum and articles and upon calling some of the schools to check, realised I can get into phases 2A2 for both Anderson and Teck Ghee as both me n hubby schools merged to become these two schools (heng ah!) Now, I just need to check out the teaching system in both schools so hope that parents who have kids in these schools can help out.

hehe, actually for the swimming i'm not too sure coz all the kids only start learning swimming in K1. Come to think of it, I never question the cleanliness of the pool leh, so i oso dunno how often they change the water. But based on their hygiene records, I think it shld be quite ok de šŸ˜›


In terms of the lesson, from what i gather from LW, i think they really do teach them coz when we go to the pool, she will demo to me some of the things they learn from swimming. but i have never attended any swimming lessons before myself so i oso dunno whether it is the same as the paid lessons outside hehe... Y dun u ask Shermaine on the changing of water coz it never occurred to me to ask oso haha... then u can share with me keke

just checked with Shermaine, yes they change water on every Monday.
As for the instructor, Uncle Joe, he is a swimming instructor who also teachs lessons outside. so its ok to swim there.... šŸ˜‰

Sorry just check with you again on the school, cos since your gal is there for 2yrsā€¦ , hope you dont mindā€¦ The swimming pool water, does the school change frequently? My hb said he often sees alot leaves floating in the waterā€¦ so he thinks that its not very clean for the kids to swim there. They really teach swimming for just water play of kicking and splashing?

my kids only join S&D(Eng) coz I felt that their chinese quite ok liao so dun need the extra enrichment. My SIL will help to teach them occasionally but i focus more on the character building. I went and bought the \"san zi jing\" from popular with the CDs and I play them in the car so the two elder ones, esp LW can recite quite a fair bit ler.

For phonics, LW used to attend the one in my centre but when the teacher could not continue, I have yet to find a good one to replace so the classes is on hold now.

It's quite hard to teach the kids at home coz too much distractions ler so I usually \"use\" the distractions to teach. For example, educational computer games. Younger one I go to http://www.sesamestreet.org and for LW, I will explore different sites. Then when they watch TV, I make sure I impart values to them by discussing whether what the character in the TV is doing is right or wrong, etc. Even when we are shopping, sometimes I will point out things to them or ask them to count stuff, that way, they dun really feel like u r pressurising them.

I try my best to answer all their questions even though sometimes I feel like telling them \"next time u grow up will understand\" coz if we dun answer their questions, eventually they will stop asking and that is not healthy, IMO. Actually, sometimes when we have to answer their questions, we would learn something new too kaka....

echinacea can buy from nature's farm or gnc, is in gummy form. but if buy from sg very ex... i usually join sprees and buy from overseas so now waiting for my sambucol to ship over here. coz for vitamins and supplements, buy from US is cheaper by at least 35-40%!

The sambucol that i'm waiting for is with echinacea already. that one is in liquid form. I did buy an extra bottle tho so if u want I can sell it to u. it's abt $30 per bottle with shipping. United Square got one store selling at about the same price for half the size!

the school dun always change teachers. i think itā€™s only this year. The current teacher is actually the teacher who has taken Lewen since toddler so she is very familiar with her. she left the school for awhile den when Shermaine went on her maternity, she took over her duties if Iā€™m not wrong.

As for the chinese teachers, i can understand coz i run a tc so when a teacher leaves, sometimes itā€™s not so easy to find a replacement. For english, itā€™s quite easy but for chinese, itā€™s quite difficult as u dun find many who are good. sometimes itā€™s not a matter of choice to chg the teachers as you may need to go through a few before finding one that is really suitable and in the meantime, classes still need to go on so they will have to accept one with the best qualification at that point of time. not sure whether u understand where iā€™m coming from hahaha

lewen is stronger in her immunity (think coz sheā€™s bf longer than any of my children) but she will still fall sick when her brother is sick. she din attend school yesterday coz she was coughing badly oso. i think itā€™s the viral season so cannot help it lar. If they are constantly having cough and flu, maybe u want to try give them vitamins. I give the kids echinacea. next month iā€™m trying out sambucol with echinacea. these supplements helps to boost immunity and my sonā€™s running nose condition improves tremendously after taking echin.

The teachers are asking tooā€¦ cos I brought to Bottle Tree Park with K1ā€™s excursion, so most of the Teachers know herā€¦ā€¦ Initially she was scheduled to go 2mths ago, but fell seriously sick and her immunity has not really improve yet, still on off cought and fluā€¦ā€¦ will have to monitor here again.

I know dun have to go every week de... but coz i need to go to my tuition centre on weekends every week so i will bring her along, put her there and pick her up when I'm done. but since young she always had a mind of her own, very \"xiao da ren\" so since she feels that it's tiring den i stop lor. Coz for kids, no point forcing them if they dun enjoy, haha... but I think rachel is oso there coz i oso bumped into her there before.

Heh, i very thankful i got a very nice mil. She takes care of the youngest while the 2 elder goes to cc. (that's y have to put both there haha) She used to go back home on weekends but nowadays she will still stay at my house on weekends. She really is a wonderful help, dunno what I will do without her šŸ˜„

Mayflower - I dun really like coz too near to the park ler. My kids attract mozzies like nothing so very scared haha.

APS - I just received an email from MOE confirming that I can register under 2A2 for APS so I'm quite sure I will be registering there ler. Finally something good came out of all the changing of schools(I have 3 primary schools due to moving house when I was young!) I got a neighbour who got a kid in APS and she said that the school is very sports-focused as well and intro sports like golf in their PE program and I like that coz can train them to be all-rounder(hopefully) haha. Your place should be within 1km so should be quite ok, if manage to get in, mabbe they will be classmates again! šŸ˜‰

U dun intend to put the younger one into cc yet?

fyi, I just happened to know that you dont have to attend weekly once you are considered their fulltime studentsā€¦ Just have to take note that you dont stop more than 3monthsā€¦ so for us, now we only go like twice a monthā€¦ for Lucas to relieve some stress and arrange to meet his ex class mate thereā€¦ hahahah

Tpy is my mumā€™s place, our own place is at AMK st 61, cos when I was preggie with #2 and almost, our house was still under MUP, too dusty to stay, so we evacuated and bunk into tpyā€¦ We shld be going back next year, so Anderson is our choice, if cannot, the go Mayflower lorā€¦

Lewen stopped going there coz she feels that 1.5hrs is just too long and by the time the 1st hour is over, her small hands are already very tired from the drawing and colouring coz small kids like them still have not mastered the art of gripping and thus tend to overexert their strengthā€¦

Hi,

so nice to see our kids' parents here....

I think actually we met before for a shortwhile @ HANsart. Lewen was telling me the other day that she stops going there already.

The kids there have fantastic memory, they can remember whose parents , even though I seldom go pick Lucas up.

We are looking at Anderson too, but are too late for PV! :stupid: so gotta try for Phase 2C.....
