<![CDATA[How to entertain toddlers while waiting or on plane]]>Hi all, anyone has ideas how to entertain toddlers while waiting for something (food/queue) or on plane?


Tried using ipad, colouring books , snacks (like raisins), toys but the attention span is between 5 - 10 mins only.

I thought the best choice would be help them sleep while on a plane. I have a niece that falls asleep whenever we travel long distance or on a plane.
If you can be sure they will sleep, then that's a good plan. But not all kids will be so accommodating and fall asleep that easily! So it's best to be prepared for the worst, especially the first time you travel with that child.

- Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before your trip.
- Know that either at the airport or at home, it may be a good idea to get a meal or a snack for them.
- Ask the toddler what they want to do once you are waiting.
- Save the most entertaining item you brought for when your child has reached the largest amount of boredom.
- Do something with your child once you know the wait shouldn't be much longer.
- Be prepared when it's time to get on the plane.

I can't help to smile as I recall what I did to entertain my one-year-old child when he had his flight international flight. My partner and I keep on singing nursery rhymes and doing peek-a-boo for almost three hours. Luckily, he did not have tantrums like other kids can!

We also did the same thing when we had our vacation in Taiwan a year ago. We choose to have a business class seat so that there are few passengers will could possible disturbed once he starts crying while we are on board. The flight attendant helps us make our toddler entertain too. It might be a little expensive but all I can say is we had a great vacation because my kid did cooperate while we are still on the plane.

So I take her Barbie with her and she would spend all her time playing with her, making her eat, dressing her, patting her, etc. as if she is her friend.

Perhaps i can try puzzles …& stickers…


I found out he like markers… of coz those washable one that can be wipe off with wet tissue.

My son is only turnin 2 this Dec.

I bring many little toys/books etc. it also depends on what will captivate your child. Mine likes stickers and I bought along a stack. She will be sticking them on her books or I will stick them and ask her to find them.


One advice though is to avoid red eye flight. Even if you don’t mind the displeasure from the other pAssengers, it can be tough to manage in the darkness if your toddler doesn’t sleep due to excitement or discomfort.

im dd is 2.5yr old now. she gal loves puzzle so that could keep her entertain for a long time. another very interesting thing for her is stickers. once they hit 2, i find that they can sit still long, concentrate on a activate longer too. before that, i will be walking with her up and down the plane.
