need some advise from the gurus here
my daughter did 234 in recent psle and she really likes/want to go to Nan Hua
So I have this list in mind...
Any suggestions if this list makes sense?

5) CHIJ St Theresa's

The cops for each sch usually vary +/-2 points from the previous year. Taking into a/c tt it is the dragon year, maybe we buffer in a possible variation of +/-4. That being the case, it should be quite safe to consider schools with cop 228 or higher instead.


My suggestion is to list the schools with cop 236 to 228, put their respective banding in the next column, followed by its location. From there, you should get a more systematic picture. Any school with a band of 5 or worse, I would drop from my list because with a cop of 230+ I would presonally prefer at least a band 3 sec school.

Will a school's banding be adversely affected by affiliation? That is, since they also take in students from affiliated schools who don't do as well during PSLE, when these students take their \"O\" levels and don't do well, will they drag the banding down?

Please pardon me. I am not trying to say that students who don't do well in PSLE also don't do well in \"O\" Levels. I am just asking a hypothetical question.

The banding reflects the results of the entire cohort, inclusive of the affiliated students. But if you look at the schools in Band 1 (see past years), you'll notice that there are a number of affiliated schools in that list of top schools. What does this mean? Simply, that the school is doing a great job in value add and pushing affiliated kids with scores of <220 attain great grades in O levels. That to me is a good school.

I found out on my own with my sources, individual Schs' web site ...
Don't kn all but aware of those few Schs u hv chosen.

Ask yr DD whether she wants Girls' Sch or Co Edu?
For Girls' sch, if u are consideting Katong Convent, might as well choose TKGS (COP 235).
Check out their O Level results. ( but far if u don't mind ).
N u hv to put it as lst or 2nd choice. If not, cannot appeal.
COP is close to yr DD score, so success rate is higher. Plus CCA n others can help too.

If Co Edu sch, then can stick to yr original option.

will be risky,, since alr have some choices for cop 234 ish alr

Ask yr DD whether she wants Girls' Sch or Co Edu?
For Girls' sch, if u are consideting Katong Convent, might as well choose TKGS (COP 235).
Check out their O Level results. ( but far if u don't mind ).

With regards to distance, you need to talk to your child. I was in your situation. As a mum, I want my kid to have enough rest but my kid told me that he would rather prefer a bit far but a better school. He will be disciplined to wake up early. I have to trust him and let him make his own decision, it is all part of growing up and taking charge of one's life. πŸ˜„

anyway, all the schools in the selction i can sent dd to school
in the morning. just the return leg

i've heard that students who enter tkgs/tkss like the school a lot, perhaps due to the warm environment. also, the students they produce are pretty good as well. πŸ™‚ it's worth considering. if i'm not wrong, they produce good o level results too.
