About 200 SMRT bus drivers refused to go to work early Monday morning and instead assembled at their dormitory in Woodlands.

The drivers, who are Chinese nationals, were unhappy about the recent pay increase that Malaysian drivers had received, reported Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News.

Malaysian drivers got a $275 increment and a month's bonus, while Chinese nationals were paid $75 extra without any bonus.

An SMRT human resource executive was called in to resolve the dispute but when the discussion came to a standstill, police with their riot vans were called.

SMRT runs about 25 per cent of Singapore's bus routes with SBS

Ask this 200 SMRT bus drivers to leave and get another 200 in. They do not wish to work, then go home and sleep. Take other buses or plan another route or take a taxi instead when they strike. Won't be scolded for late work because of the strike so not a big problem. Let them whin and then if they choose to go, just let them go and in the end who will lose out? Make a guess?

If gave them the same pay as all foreign bus drivers, then they might not did that... now bus fares going to rise and we have to pay more ...

Not practical.

Bus stops are not interchange where there are designate bus bays for different bus services.

If a bus enters the bay with the sign right at the start of the bus stop, and has a long queue to board, another bus will not be able to enter the bus stop when the svc no. sign is further up the bus stop.

It is waste of waiting time for the bus in the queue and may hold up traffic along the road with unnecessary bus queues.

Currently, the first bus that enters the stop just pull at right at the end so the next bus can move in and there can be 2 or 3 buses that allows boarding alighting at he same time if the bus stop is long enough.

This method of putting up svc no. at fixed positions in the bus stop is very inefficient.

Unless the schedule is such that usually there is only ONE bus at the bus stop at any time, even during peak hours.

That will depend on what they post. One needs to be responsible in what one says, even if they use pseudonyms. The ministers set up FB to be part of the community, to hear people's views - they are not obligated to do so, are they? Certainly don't owe people to have a Facebook account?

These days, many people are no longer afraid to express their views openly. For one, they are not saying something against the law and at least in the link to the FB provided, I did not see any use of expletives. I see many people actually make sense and know what they are saying. Whether they are right or not is a different matter. On the contrary, after seeing all these feedback, I do wonder what the Minister intends to do, or if he could do anything about them. 🤷

My friend told me once he/she posted in one of the forum. Not sure about some topics. Somehow, a ‘director’ in that organisation confront her/him. Warn him/her not to post any negative remarks, not happy with certain things talk to that ‘director’. How on earth this ‘director’ knew who is she/he?

I see what you are trying to drive at, but don't quite get the idea -

you mean lIke say, naming all the cabins 1 to X (sorry, how many cabins on MRT har? 6?), then, make announcement that passengers are recommended to take e.g. cabin 1 to 3 if they are heading to City Hall and Raffles Place? How will that improve efficiency and keep fares constant? It certainly sounds like at least there will be less shoving in and out of cabins - something like what limlim has suggested, everyone move in one direction only - yes?

Like a river flowing in ONE SINGLE direction efficiently into the sea?

Come to think of it, the MRT track is like a river that picks up debris ( 😆 we humans are the debris) along the way, depositing them here and there...

Not making a cost-saving suggestion, it's a response to limlim's idea on cabin without door.
