I strongly encourage my kids to take HCL becos of the advantages for JC.<br /><br />My dd is strong in HCL so its not a problem. If he can pass the test and is willing to put in the effort, he should be given the chance to try. But remember end of Sec 3 still have to sit for the O level CL paper. Most schools will look at the CL grade before deciding if the child should retake CL or go on to take HCL at Sec 4.[/quote]<br /><br /><br />Yes…DS also agrees that if can’t perform at Sec 3 and CL O level is no good enough, just go back to CL at Sec 4.  <br /><br />Regarding doing Chinese in JC, was told that if the child gets a ‘good grade’ in HCL during O level (not sure if it’s B4 or B3 above), he still needs to take Chinese in JC.  any idea?</p>

I got an A2 for EL for Os, and my raw L1R5 is 7. Nett is 5. Whereas my friend who takes HCL, got C5!! for EL and B3 for HCL. So end up, her raw is 8 yet her nett is 4. Still better than mine, despite getting a C5 for EL.<br /><br />Even if you don't plan to replace EL with HCL, the 2 bonus points is totally worth it.
