Does anyone know how secondary schools allocate classes for new students.

Do they rank them according to PSLE results? Or, do they randomly allocate the new students? Thanks.

However, I have heard from my students (yes, I am a tutor) that some schools (like Jurong Sec), have different kinds of classes, such as sports (for those strong in sports) and academic class.
