I would like to check with everyone here. Is all school the same that they consider their club & societies like art club, infocomm and etc which can less 2 points for "o" level result when enter JC.

I want my DD to select the CCA that can commit it for the 4 years in order to get the points.

I think as long as you actively participated and involved in those activities organized by your CCA, should be able to get A.

Son loves IT…so attending cca every Friday till 6pm is not tiring to him. Anyway, he has stepped down from a senior position as it was very time consuming.

I honestly dont think thats the right angle to look at it from haha. if your dd or ds is interested, sure can get A for CCA one! My son joined IT club, every friday chiong cos of interest and got his A hahaha.

Many straight As students were rejected as they may not be seen to be "suitable".

I read somewhere on this forum that not getting good points for cca might affect your chances at getting into popular faculties at university level. That may be true in the past, but in recent years, NUS med has been accepting students who are just members in their cca, no leadership, no CIP, medals etc. On top of that, you don’t need straight As, there are several cases of students with Bs (GP or H2 subjects) and even Cs in GP getting accepted into the faculty.

A number of my daughter’s classmates with straight As and excellent cca records have been rejected by Nus med.

Is shooting a good sport? Not sure if we should appeal for tennis? He was short listed but did not get in tho he took tennis lessons for 2 years but mediocre.

I was actively involve in CIP activities that my CCA provides (such as helping up in the technical area during an event), and I also participated in various flag days (which was actually offered to my school cohort) as well as class CIP. Our school expected all of us to reach at least 100 CIP hours, so it was quite naturally that all of us would achieve that given that so many opportunities were available.

Hi, I used to be in infocomm club in Sec School. I was not a chairperson etc (I am only an exco), but my CIP hours are more than 100. I managed to get 25 leap points for 4 years, which was an A1 grade for CCA. So, it was still possible to score A1 even in club and society CCA 🙂

My DD no. 1 used to go to St. John Ambulance Brigade when she was in Secondary School. I think she received the senior staff sergeant rank or something by the time she was in Sec 4 and managed to deduct 2 points from her L1R5.
Her CCA was only once a week but her CCA gave her a lot of CIP opportunities. The CIP helped her earn a no. of badges which i think helped her with the CCA points.
The badges you earn depends on the activities the seniors arrange, i think. This was what my DD told me.

Hi, my school doesn't offer St John Ambulance Brigade so I don't really know, but pretty much ALL UGs are easy to get points as long as you attend the trainings and get lots of badges. If that is the case, I would think so.
